Summary: This would be a one star, except that when it was working, this monitor was wonderful. But this is the second monitor I have had of this exact model that has developed a black screen problem. The solution above did not work for me, as my brightness was already up all the way on both monitors. That said, they lasted over 3 years, so there was definitely a life to them, but try the Acer S241HL instead.
Summary: Size and if you're facing face front the display is good, BUT the top area and general poor back-lighting will have you wishing you hadn't bought this thing, especially if you do graphics or video work. The poor contrast deepens dark areas and colors making them darker, unless you use just the bottom 30 percent of the screen - unacceptable in a $200-300 LCD. Apparently it is a known issue with this model, but suspiciously kept quite.
Summary: I work with video & graphics daily, and had seen this Acer H243H monitor in-store and it looked AMAZING! I bought two and ran them side-by-side on my computer with a wide spanning desktop. It was heaven... for about a month. I will say, the images on these monitors are crisp, clear, and vibrant. Zero complaints about how things look, in fact it's perhaps the clearest image I've ever seen. But...
Summary: I bought this monitor as a serious upgrade over my old one, and received it almost a week ago. At first, I was very, very pleased with the image quality. But then I saw some darker screens, while playing a few games on my PC and Xbox 360 ... and noticed some very severe backlight bleeding. By "severe", I mean, there is a U-shaped area that starts in the top left corner, curves down to the very middle of the screen, and then curves up to the top right corner.
