Summary: These monitors have a CFFL (a fluorescent lamp that back-lights the screen) that seems to be at the end of its life-time for these monitors (from 2007), if used extensively. At least at our office, 20 out of 70 have died over the last couple of months. A good monitor whose time has come and gone. So please don't buy somebody's barely working old screen.
Summary: I read the reviews prior to purchasing, and thought it would make a good working monitor for a new desktop computer. I mostly got the screen for its maximum screen resolution of 1680x1024. The screen is indeed really big, which in itself wouldn't be a bad thing. However, my wife and I are used to our laptop's 15" monitor with 1400x1050 resolution; so that represented a big change. My chief complaint about this monitor is its brightness.
