Summary: I have used Acer monitors for as long as I can remember. I'll list some pros and cons. pros - Good price No issues with it (eg. dead pixels) Easy to use, and very compatible with all devices. Cons - Only con is the resolution tops out at 1680x1050 which is somewhat outdated. If your gaming you want 1920x1080. This is still a very strong monitor which can be left on and used for years. I am up to 5 years of constant use as a dual monitor with no issues.
Summary: These monitors have a CFFL (a fluorescent lamp that back-lights the screen) that seems to be at the end of its life-time for these monitors (from 2007), if used extensively. At least at our office, 20 out of 70 have died over the last couple of months. A good monitor whose time has come and gone. So please don't buy somebody's barely working old screen.
Summary: We were very excited to get his to replace our old 19" VGA monitor. Over time, though, it became clear that the response time was on the slow side for gaming, and the color was a bit off for video watching. Then the backlight died after 8 months of regular use. I wouldn't recommend it.
Summary: I ordered this monitor at Amazon and have been using it for two weeks now. I like it a lot. The color on mine is very good, no dead pixels and the image is very sharp. In the menu - not the best menu I've seen - there are a couple of presets you can quickly switch between (movie, text, user, graphics, standard) but I just keep it at one setting. The built in speakers are a handy extra and they are nicely hidden out of sight, don't expect great sound quality though.
Summary: First the pros. There is a WEALTH of information from other reviewers on what a superb this monitor is, so I'll very quickly touch on what I love about this monitor. Pros ---- >> This monitor is BRIGHT when the brightness is turned all the way up. The image quality is excellent on the native resolution of 1680 x 1050. Both text and images are sharp and the color rendering is good.
