good used monitor - perfect match for the one i have
9 March 2012
Summary: i had one of these; it was a good monitor 20" with a lot of pixels for the money, wanted another for dual screens, not that old, but no longer available new, so I bought two for about what the original cost new. Seems like there's a lot of parts available to repair these - don't know if that means they fail often - hope not.
Summary: I've owned this monitor for 3 years and this morning it quit on me. It now just flashes on and off and nothing I do can reset it. 3 years is a long time but there's no reason a monitor shouldn't last at least 5. I'm disappointed in it's stamina for sure. As to it's funtion, works great out of the box. Decent image, it's only a 1680X1050 res so it's not the clearest picture. I haven't had any problems with this until now. 8ms response time is great.
Summary: This is one lousy monitor. First off the VGA connection doesn't work with my Mac Mini. The DVI connection does, the problem with having the DVI connection is that the monitor blacks out and then comes right back. I did some research on the internet and much to my dismay this is the case with all Acer monitors, it is a glitch that can't be fixed and Acer refuses to acknowledge the problem.
Summary: I was looking for a modest sized 1680 x 1050 wide screen format LCD monitor to use as a second screen with my 17" Apple MacBook Pro laptop. It works a treat, doubling my desktop estate, has a DVI connector, and the silver frame matches my MacBook. The colours are sharp and bright too. Excellent value for money, especially when I think what I paid for CRT monitors a few years ago.
Monitor smelled like burned plastic and stopped working

Summary: This monitor was great ... while it worked. After about 14 months, I walked in my office and smelled a very strange smell that was like an electronic-overheated-type smell. Turns out it was coming from this monitor. After unplugging it and letting the smell dissipate, when I turn it on, all I get is a white screen.
Summary: I bought this in late 2007 and it worked fine until today (4-29-11). The power light flashes amber then green and the screen remains black. I have a dual-monitor system and switched the other one and it worked fine on the same video card plug as the bad one, thus determining that the monitor itself is indeed the problem. Interesting that it came with a 3 year warranty and here we are 3 1/2 years later. Planned obselescence?
Summary: This is a pretty decent monitor, but after using it for 2 weeks, i'm returning it. The main reason is after rebooting linux (which is rare) i got the startup screen and noticed about 8 bad pixels. The other thing is, I didnt realize that this monitor doesnt have DVI output until I opened it up, which is why this monitor goes for $100 less than comparable monitors.
