Excerpt: I bought the Acer AL1916W 19-inch Monitor for my most recent computer build, and have found it to be a very clear, colorful picture for a flat screen. The 19-inches makes it fairly compatible with most graphics cards, and easy to read and see what is on the screen. I bought the monitor upon the recommendation of one of Arstechnica.com’s Guides, and it seemed an economical choice at just under 200 dollars.
Summary: For a great above average monitor with a good price, this one fits the bill. I've been buying these for our office and they are well constructed and have crisp displays. Adjust feature seems to work wonders with whatever you are currently looking at. My only complaint is that the display height is low for ergonomics -- I had to move my display up on to a mount to get it at eye level.
Acer AL1916C: Tried and Tested - and no Ace(r) puns either!
9 August 2009
Summary: So what do I mean by "tried and tested"? Well we have been using these at work for the last 18 months and have approximately 150 in the office, so I have a fair bit of experience with this model. I won't go too much into the technical specs as you can get them all from the tabbed marked Technical Details funnily enough, but a few of the major points are: Max resolution = 1280x1024. You wouldn't want anything less on a 19" screen Image Brightness = 300cd/m2.
Pros: Relatively Cheap. Solid build. Keep on truckin'.

Firstly I looked at standerd 4:3 aspect ratio screens but was atracted to widescreens because I could watch movies on it without wasting screen space also the idea of veiwing two windows at once interested me. The only problem I had with widescreens was the price. Most retail at a higher price than normal 4:3 ratio screens. As I looked at the many screens on the internet ...
Excerpt: "I recently purchased this monitor as a replacement for my ailing 19 inch Iiyama CRT, which has been hogging my desk for some 4 years and has pretty much died. I got mine from Ebuyer.com which also sells the widescreen model (oddly at a marginally lower price). First impressions upon arrival were favourable. Lifting the screen is a positive boon compared to the monstrously heavy CRT equivalent for the same size screen. Also bear in mind that ...
