Excerpt: Installed it on my old IMAC with OSX 10.5 and it was up and running in no time. The Zoom was listed in the drop down tab which made it simple. The Mac still tries to log onto the Ethernet, (which is not available) after start up. I need to change that but do not want the thing dialing automatically anyway.
Excerpt: Purchased initialy for a MacBook Air, the device insatlled with eas but would not recognize the phone line. I tried it on anotehr macbook air and the same results. FInally a MacBook pro yet again with identical results.I moved to a Samsung Pc and recieved a ne errror notice the device was pulling too much power. Again two other USB ports gave teh same warinig message. A HP tablet/comvertibe was teh next victim fot this device tha was seeking a computer to callit home.
Excerpt: I returned this Modem immediately after the software installation failed. I'm using an up-to-date version of Windows-7, and I have never witnessed a software installation go so completely wrong. The User Manual was similarly flawed. The screen-shots & options described in the Manual simply bore no relationship to the actual installation options.
Excerpt: Works well. Some rural areas where there is no high-speed internet available, we still have to use dial-up. The new computers these days don't come with modems. This is what I needed to get back on line at home.
Excerpt: While many people might wonder why anyone in this day and age still requires a modem, I am most certainly thankful they still exist. There are many, many places where wi-fi is just not available!I am not all that computer-literate. This modem was piece-of-cake easy to install because the directions/instructions were well written and easy to follow. And, the Zoom V.92 USB External Faxmodem is working like a charm!
Excerpt: I give 3 stars only for the modem, since it is rather slow with my Mac Powerbook OSX and dialup connection. It is substantially slower than my old G4 computer with a build-in modem. The reasons for this are not known.
Summary: I'm totally pleased with this product! I'm using it on a 10-year-old Macintosh iMac OSX 10.4x, because recently I've had BIG trouble with the internal modem--hang-ups, very slow performance, confusion in both Mail program & browsers, etc.I already had the modem script in my Library folder, so I simply plugged the modem in & shifted the computer phone line to it. Then, after configuring it to my ISP in System Pref's, I opened Internet Connect, and it works perfectly!
