Needed Device for Yamaha AV Receivers

DCMORENO, Yamaha
7 October 2013
  • Summary: Because most Yamaha AV receivers don't have Wi-Fi included, this is a must have product in order to receive product updates and to connect to internet radio and Pandora. Set up is cumbersome but once it's connected, it's very useful.
  • Pros: Low Power Consumption, Quality Construction
  • Cons: Hard To Set Up

Works Well

John D, Yamaha
2 September 2013
  • Summary: This unit links my Yamaha RX-V475BL AV RECEIVER with my computer and allows me to play my iTunes, Internet radio stations, USB audio files, and preferred Internet music sites to my receiver. The sound quality is excellent, especially on bass. I have had no problem with it at all. The set up was easy because I have the automatic setup feature, WPS, on my modem and this unit. Just push the buttons in the correct order and they connect almost immediately.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Low Power Consumption, Quality Construction

Works great, but manual setup is difficult

JonH, Crutchfield
24 July 2013
  • Summary: If you can connect your Yamaha receiver to Internet with an Ethernet cable, don't buy this wi-fi adapter. I had to configure it manually for my router (Apple Time Capsule). Not user friendly, and a couple router settings the instructions said to look for weren't found. (Other components with built-in wi-fi [including a Yamaha Blu-ray player] are as simple as selecting and logging into your LAN wi-fi once. Not sure why this adapter cannot work the same way.
  • Pros: Internet connection adds much more versatility to Yamaha AV receiver - including Apple Airplay, Internet radio, remote app usability (especially useful for Zone 2 control), and other services.
  • Cons: 1. Manual configuration is difficult. 2. Overpriced (but if you need it, well...). A flimsy plastic box with a couple connection jacks and electronics; seems like Yamaha should price it at about $25 instead of this much.

Doesn't work!

Chris U, Crutchfield
24 July 2013
  • Summary: Even after calling Crutchfield tech support several times and downloading my WiFi router information onto the adapter, it will not connect to my WiFi. Something is wrong and I have no idea what it is.I will just plug my smart phone into the front of the AV Receiver and get music that way.
  • Pros: good in principle
  • Cons: Can't get it to work

Yamaha YWA-10

Tim B, Crutchfield
15 July 2013
  • Summary: I had a hard time understanding the instructions, I could not tell if I was suppose connect with my laptop or through the receiver for programing. I called tech support at Crutchfield, the tech had already had some experience with the YWA-10, the tech had me connect up with my laptop then walked me through the steps needed then we did a test to see if the YWA-10 was talking with my router...
  • Pros: Gives you access to Net Radio, Pandora, AirPlay, Rhapsody and Sirius XM
  • Cons: Could be better priced...
