death in infancy

Martin B., Newegg
12 April 2013
  • Pros: it worked for one day
  • Cons: It disappeared from device manager on day 2. I tried 2 different PCI slots. Also, US Robotics "ControlCentre" software did not install properly on Windows XP 64 bit. I am not sure whether that is due to the defective modem or not. Newegg could not refund this modem since I already recycled the packaging, so now I will have to deal with USR customer care.

Modem Works when it Wants to.

Kelly S., Newegg
29 November 2012
  • Summary: I know that the USR5610B and C Modems are NOT Winmodems. But you would think that they would have been tested allot more. So they would be able to Install Easier than what they Do. I have worked on Computers for over 20 years. This is the only Modem that Wouldn't work first time out of the Box. SO DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND ALLOT OF TIME GETTING IT TO INSTALL.
  • Pros: Was Supposedly a GREAT Modem.
  • Cons: Started with a 5610B Model Modem. The Modem was Harder than H*** to get Installed and Working. I then used it for 6 Months and it Burned Up. I took it out then got a Replacement from the Company I Bought it from. They sent me A 5610C Model. Took me 4 Hours to get the Drivers and Some of the Software Installed. Then the Speed would never get over 28.8 when Connected to my ISP. I then took it Out and put an Older WinModem in and it got 46.6. I then put the 5610C Back in...

Would not fit

Michael B., Newegg
16 March 2010
  • Summary: Not USR fault - Dell miss informed me.
  • Pros: One of the few that works with SBS 2008 and Dell recommended it for that reason
  • Cons: Will not fit the Dell PowerEdge - it is PCI only, who has extra PCI slots if any at all these days?

Best dialup modem!

Anonymous, Newegg
28 June 2009
  • Summary: Installed in my Dell 4500. If you connect using dialup and connect to proxy server this modem is the perfect replacement for a Lucent WinModem. Thanks NewEgg!
  • Pros: Easy to install no compatability problems with IE8 SP3. Very stable, reliable, and fast.
  • Cons: None
