Summary: I don't know why people SO HAPPY with this modem. Yes, it works. Yes, it is faster compared to docsys 2. That's it. It is ~2 times bigger than my old lynksys cm100. Lights are like 1000x times brighter - you can use this modem to make a disco in your house. I used electric tape over lights to shut this off but no luck - it eliminates bright light through meshed sides and you cannot cover it. I used finally cardboard to cover this LIGHTNING modem.
Great product from Motorola and very happy that I made this purchase.

Summary: Great product from Motorola - it is fast and reliable once installed to my system. This cable modem saves me paying monthly fee to my Internet provider; not only that, the cable co. gave me an antiquated modem that was slow and incompatible to the bandwidth that I paid for. This may be the best low-cost investment owning vs renting from the cable co. that I've ever made.
Excerpt: I have given this a 5-star just for the fact that this product was shipped at least 10 days before the mentioned shipping schedule. I was surprised, pleasantly of course. The product itself is awesome. Works right out of the box and supports very high speeds of download/upload cable internet. I have a TWC 50/5 package and easily get that from this little genius.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast Connection, Reliable Connection
Works right out of the box.Great stability and speeds

Summary: This is a pretty good modem. Was a breeze to setup with Time warner cable. I get the published speeds mentioned by TWC and the modem has been rock solid stable for over 3 weeks now. I have since disconnected my DSL and am awaiting uVerse to be installed, so I can use both connections to loadbalance and provide fail-over. I highly recommend this modem to anyone that is looking for owning their own and avoiding the $7 rental fees with TWC. It pays for itself in 10 months.
Excerpt: With the sudden failure of my existing modem (not Motorola) my need was urgent. With the very helpful assistance of Samir S. at the nearby Narberth Store, the Surfboard was the remedy. With Comcast's on-line setup to upload the MAC and serial numbers, I was back in operation in a manner of minutes. The Surfboard is running flawlessly.
