Geat Basic Wireless N Modem.....

quietstormgu1tar, Ebay
12 October 2014
  • Summary: It's a great, basic wireless N modem... I've had no problems with it. I bought it to replace a housemate's netgear wireless G that kept overheating and cutting off.

Buy this

  • Summary: Cheap and delivered fast. Stop paying your ISP $7/mo! The worst part of this purchase was going to TWC and waiting in line for an hour to make them take the old one.

It works.

Mitchell F., Newegg
5 August 2014
  • Summary: Just plug it in, connect the cable line and the ethernet cable. Then call your internet provider and read them the number on the bottom of the modem. This modem is good enough for 99% of cable internet customers out there.
  • Pros: It runs nice and cool, and should last you a very long time. You don't have to pay Time Warner/Comcast those annoying cable rental fees anymore. This is one of the lower cost cable modems available.
  • Cons: Supposedly not fast enough to handle the highest cable internet tiers out there.

  • Summary: Easiest set-up ever! Simply connected the cables, plugged it in and it has worked like a charm ever since. For the price, the Motorola SURFboard SB5101U can't be beat!

User Review

Michael M., Newegg
22 July 2014
  • Summary: Got this modem rather then paying my provider (TW) a monthly fee for one. It took over any hour on the phone with them to set up (there fault, not the modems), but once set up this device has been worry free and reliable.
  • Pros: No problems in over a year of ownership, offers speeds that meet gaming/streaming demands without any problems. Great Price.
  • Cons: Faster modems existing depending on your needs

Cost under $20, will save over $60/yr. Great Product.

  • Summary: Older tech, does its job, and gets the advertised speed. The one from the cable company was a faithful servant for 5 years, only difference is this one is all paid for :). TW started to charge for my unit. Works fine with TW cable for lower tier cable service (probably up to 30Mbps, certainly for 15). They do not list it as replacement, but when I returned mine I've seen it being given to customers.

It's a Moto modem -- I expect it to last nearly forever

msu_micha, Ebay

  • Summary: Bought this unit as a backup to an identical product. Bought both at the same time, so this one sits in wait mode. I do not expect problems with the unit currently in-place, but I'm an engineer, and do not like to have complex systems without backups.

WELL worth it!

conepener, Ebay

  • Summary: I bought this product to save the monthly fee from Time Warner Cable for renting their modem from them (~ $10/month in upstate NY). Works like a charm and I'm now saving that money every month - True Story. Don't fall for the cable company's non-sense - buy your own modem and save the money every month.
