Summary: Owned this for 5 months. Worked fine for two months then became unreliable. Cable provider indicated they see countless 'resets' over months. 3 hours dealing with Cisco/Linksys to RMA the modem - they have the absolutely WORST support ever. Online chat ignored my questions and disconnected the chat session after 45 minutes of silence from them. (Meaning they not once attempted to answer a question - no response to "Hello - Are you there?
Summary: I bought this product b/c I signed up for comcast internet service based on a promo. The speed of service is guaranteed around 20mbps, so it's not their blast service etc. Since my promo runs for 12-months, I figured this was a cheaper alternative to leasing one of their modems at a tune of $7/month. A couple of things people should know before purchasing any cable modem. You need to ensure that the device is on their supported list.
Summary: Yo- I bought this to replace a crapped out uBee DOC3.0 that started needing a reset about once a day. Unfortunately - I didn't install it within the 30 day return period - so I am stuck with having to get a replacement from Cisco/Linksys. I worked with Comcast to setup and register the modem - and within three hours it was resetting itself about once an hour.
Summary: After coming across a posting that Comcast had upgraded their equipment in our area, I got this new DPC3008 to replace an existing DOCSIS 2.0 modem. My main objective was not so much connection speed, but rather to utilize native IPv6 connectivity over the internet. Turned out somewhat of a struggle to swap in the new modem, even though I first initiated a Comcast chat session to have them walk me through the process.
Summary: No complaints about the modem. It has been trouble free so far after installation on Time Warner Cable. For those with issues where the modem is resetting make sure your Upstream power is not above 50dBmV. This could be caused by poor coax connections that seemingly look fine. So, if you have issues with the modem resetting check the upstream power from the modem's web page (192.168.100.1) and if necessary check the connections and maybe even call the cable company to...
Summary: This has many poor reviews because comcast rolled out a bad firmware in the beginning of the year that took a few months to fix. I have owned this thing for about 3 months and love it. Runs cool, speed is great and has future use for working with more channels thus faster speeds. My ONLY complaint on this modem is comcast restricting the GUI. You can NOT see logs, channels or anything advanced. Very basic, just signal level and number of bonded channels.
Summary: I picked one of these up directly from Cisco when they were selling some refurbished units and I have to say I was hesitant to buy it even at a great price after reading all the reviews. It looks like Cisco didn't have their act together with Comcast and pushed out a firmware update late 2011 that was not tested, and worse, took 6 months to fix.
Summary: Linksys DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (DPC3008-CC) After a great deal of research for my circumstances, this specific cable modem is my best available option as a "supported device" with Comcast, my Internet Service Provider (ISP). Amazon Prime offered a competitive price (since increased). The order arrived on time along with another Amazon order placed later that arrived a day early.
