Summary: My fault for assuming and not asking, but THIS DOES NOT WORK ON ANY MAC WITH LION OR NEWER (MAVERICKS). This was a complete waste of money, it would've been nice had you put something on your ad that this is a 32 bit device that will not work with 64bit versions of OSX.
DialUp & FAX on a Beautiful Apple Gadget- or not, if you have 64 bit Intel!
9 November 2013
Summary: This is a great Modem that would be a fine choice for a backup. Nowadays most places have DSL, WiFi, Wimax, or 3/4g but still a dial-up modem would be good to have on hand for faxing and that odd emergency when you really need a connection. The form-factor could not be simpler- a USB dongle with software already installed. Unfortunately, there is an issue with newer MACs.
Summary: I'm one of those poor souls who still rely on dial-up. I had purchased another external modem when I bought my Mac Mini, but it didn't work exactly as it should, even though it was advertised to work with Mac and Linux platforms. This one works seamlessly with my Mac, like all Apple products are supposed to. It's also significantly smaller, and I don't feel bad about letting it dangle over the edge of my desk.
Summary: This is a very handy piece of tech equipment that allows communications in non-wifi worlds. It is lightweight, easy to store and easy to use. Works for Mac OS OX 10.6.8. Newer OS OX will not work with this modem. Great item to keep on hand.
Summary: I bought this Apple USB port modem to use on an older Mac Book because the new iMac cannot running the new OS 10.7 (Lyon) cannot send faxes using a plug in modem. Thus when I need to send a fax, instead of looking for an actual fax machine, I just plug in this modem into my older Mac Book and fax my material. It's a same that this was done away with the new Mac OS operating system, but that's progress.
Summary: what's there to write? it's a modem. and it's from apple. ergo; perfect. and apparently I have to fill this up with at least 100 characters....ok. peanut butter and jelly sandwich peanut butter and jelly sandwich peanut butter and jelly sandwich peanut butter and jelly sandwich peanut butter and jelly sandwich peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Summary: I've been using a ZOOM USB modem with my MacBook, but suspected a few glitches. I was right. The Apple modem has improved my service. The only flaw is it doesn't have an LED to indicate that its processing.
Summary: The Mac USB modem by Apple is detected perfectly by the MacBook Pro.. immediately starts up with connection tools on the screen. Entered the dial up number and we were off. And.. like all Appleware, it's gorgeous.
