In the crush of a funeral procession for a Tibetan lama in Kathmandu, my MZ-R909 disappeared from my jacket pocket, leaving me musically stranded with still another month in Nepal. I thought I might have to buy an MP3 player. After all, where would I ever find an MD player in Nepal, a place far off the developed world's distribution chain and a society just finishing a 10-year civil war. Read more

Like other sony minidisc players, great battery life, reasonably tough, better sound than my old MZ- Read more
- Best battery life of HiMD players, 1gb discs
- Too thick, no mp3 capability, no HiMD discs availible
Sony should reconsider ATRAC3plus and SCSM format

- Excellent battery life, sound quality excellent, small compact deign with G-shock protection.
- SonicStage, cannot convert ATRAC to MP3 or wav, Sony music store only sells ATRAC songs.

Sony MZNH600D Hi-MD MiniDisc Walkman 4 I bought this little Sony Minidisc player as an alternative to the iPod. I bought an iPod ($400) that lasted less than a year. Nice. First the scroll wheel broke, then the hard drive crashed. Done with iPods! This device is now retro - it's at least 5 years behind the times. But look at what it does: -Portable 1 GB discs that are encased in a durable plastic shell. Did I mention that you can put 45 hours on one disc? Read more
