Summary: Not sure about the rest of you, but I expect my brand new microwave to last more than 2.5 years? We are a small family (4) and use the microwave daily (maybe slightly less) - we are not "tough" on appliances. This microwave worked perfectly well for 2.5 years and then just stopped heating. I was nicely told by the warranty folks at Whirlpool that I could purchase a repair warranty -- but it's the same price as buying a new microwave? Why would I do that?
Summary: This microwave came installed with my new home last May 2011. I requested white, Whirlpool since that is what I had owned with my previous counter top microwave. This microwave looks great and has met all my needs to date. Microwave noise when operating seems no more or less loud than any other microwave that I have used. My previous white Whirlpool operated flawlessly for 9 yrs and I left it, rather than move it, because I was having this new unit installed.
Summary: I had this microwave for 13 months and today there was a loud pop and a burnt electronics smell and it no longer heats anything. I purchased Lowe's 2 year warranty so it's going back, and I'm getting my money back and purchasing something else. My previous Microwave was also a whirlpool and it lasted 12 years the quality of their products (or at least this product) has gone down. My previous microwave went out in the same way but it was 12 years old.
Summary: I loved, loved, loved this microwave for the first 18 months we had it. I would have given it 5 stars across the board. BUT ... in the blink of an eye with no warning, it stopped heating. Everything else works ... the light turns on, the microwave makes that whirring noise, my food spins around on the little turntable. And then the food is still ice cold. If I had seen all the negative reviews, I NEVER would have bought this product. My loss.

Summary: We bought this unit three weeks ago to replace one like it purchased 10 years ago. Our biggest complaint is that the light is all the way in the back and it does a perfect job highlighting the wall BEHIND the stove. Now we are trying to figure out how to have some light ON the stove while cooking. We never had any problem about lighting with the old Whirlpool microwave. The other problem is that this unit is build really cheap compared to the one purchased 10 years ago.
Summary: 10 Months after the house was built the magnetron died. While it is under warranty, the earliest that GE will send a certified repairman out (to repair it under warranty) is a week and a half. I probably should start looking at sales for a new one as who knows how long it will last after it is repaired. It is a standard microwave - not many frills, but as mentioned in many other reviews, not worth the $200 - I wouldn't pay $50 for this unit now.
Summary: I bought this model about 3 yrs ago. We use it constantly, from breakfast bacon, dinner veggies, defrosting, you name it! I've yet to have any trouble. (Thank you, Lord !) We have had rental properties for many years and also built several homes both for ourselves and for resale. We've used Whirlpool products thruout almost exclusively. Overall we have found Whirlpool to be a very reliable product and priced very competitively.
