Summary: Please don't put your money in this low quality product. We bought it for our new house thinking that it's features/stainless steel exterior and (thought Whirlpool is a good brand.. how wrong we were!). It worked fine for a year and then stopped heating. (Upon talking to repair folks they said it's most likely thermatron is bad and repairs + cost of items would cost $300.. as much as a new one!). My old microwave lasted for over 8 yrs.
Summary: Hello please use me but before you buy this unit, you need to know about the plastic in the handle, we just redone out kitchen and bought this OTR microwave thinking we had bought a great item until the plastic between the door and the handle just fell apart, so we went to Lowe's and they called the service company to check it out as they did, replace the whole door, cost to whirlpool was over $ 300.00 well it has only been about 2 week sence they installed a new door,...
Summary: Purchased this microwave in December 2010. Since then magnatron and 2 other parts heve been both replaced 2 times. Both times we were without use for 3 weeks as parts required ordering and required 2 service trips each time. It is now making excessive noises and stops. Most likely magatron again.
Summary: We had a little issue with this microwave at first, as some of the keys did not work. Unfurtunately, we installed it ourself and did not check before we put it in. However, Lowes made everything okay. They sent two of there guys over to take it out and they installed a new one. The new one works great so far. Heats faster than our old microwave and is very easy to clean.
Summary: I guess we were lucky that our microwave lasted 24 months. It sounds like others have had to replace their microwaves in just over one year. I am from the school of thought that when you buy something you expect it to last for a few years.
Summary: Bought brand new, worked fine for a little over a year - four months after one year warranty expired, so did the microwave. As posted in other reviews, everything works fine except it doesn't heat/cook. Fan works, light works, turntable turns, but no microwaves. Repair will cost more than cost of microwave and no guarantee they can fix it safely. Not only do I have to buy a new one, have to pay extra for installation again.
Summary: Front appearance on the stainless model is very good. Solid build. Installation went very good. Performance? Whirlpool needs to re-engineer lighting underneath to the front corners - two 40 watt bulbs instead of the single 40 watt in rear. Also, grease filter underneath in middle of unit catches rear burner steam but only catches about 50% of front burner steam.
Summary: Bought this unit little over 2 years ago and it worked fine until last month. Nothing works, not even the light. "F2" code appeared and instruction manual says to call for service. $79 later, the serviceman says he'll have to replace a part for over $150 and even that may not fix the problem! Opted not to do that. Loved the look and features of the unit, but really question the quality.
Summary: We decided on the upgraded Whirlpool Gold thinking we were buying better quality. Bought this about 2 years ago to replace the one that came with a new house (6 years old) Our $500+ Whirlpool just stopped heating after about 2 years. The magnetron died we called a repair man and it would cost more to fix than replace. Wish I would have read the other reviews that have experienced the same thing before purchasing. Don't buy this overpriced cheap microwave, its won't last.
Summary: My old microwave died after 14 years, and I found this one at my local Lowes store. It had all the features I wanted, and I was very excited to start using it. At first it was great - I took a filet mignon out of the freezer and it defrosted perfectly. It was not cooked on the outside at all. So the sensor on this really works. But on the 5th day of use it died right in the middle of cooking.
