Summary: I loved this machine for two years, then it broke my heart. I had the same experience as many other reviewers, in that the door no longer seats properly when closed and so there is no heating action. While it was working, it was great, but two years seems like a pretty short life span for an appliance like this. Wake up, Panasonic! This seems like a pretty minor problem with an easy fix which is making your company look like microwaved doo doo.
Panasonic takes the cheap route, resulting in short-lived microwave function.

Summary: The door hook assembly is manufactured from cheap plastic, which over a period of time will wear, resulting in ineffective closure of the microwave door. If the safety switch interlocks function (and they should) as they should, the microwave will eventually not respond as the door is closed. The plastic door "keys" will not engage the door hook assembly properly and the unit will be on but the microwave bulb will not energize.
Summary: A Throw Away Microwave Works great until the door latch breaks. This is the third of this model from Panasonic that we have had to replace. Each of the 3 units we purchased has lasted about 2 years. The upper plastic door latch brakes and leaves the unit inoperable. We are always careful when shutting the door since we know the problem. I'm taking this unit back to Costco and present it as a gift for their purchasing department.
Summary: As with many others, both here and elsewhere, the poorly-engineered door latch system failed after 3 years. For the last several months the door required slamming multiple times before working. Now it does not function at all. Take your money elsewhere.
Summary: Cooks fine, operates easily. Poor choice for a countertop model: a) the door latches take so much force to close that you wind up pushing the whole unit across the counter b) the display is inset behind the metal faceplate, so that you can't see the top half of the numbers while standing in front of it trying to program it.
Summary: I bought this at Costco 2 years ago. It was a spur of the moment purchase to replace a Sharp that was on its last legs. The price was right, but, you get what you pay for. The microwave did just fine until about 18 months when we had to nearly slam the door shut. It has degraded since.. The microwave still runs, but it takes some pushing and pulling and slamming of the door..
