Summary: I was amazed that the new microwave knocks out my laptop's wifi connection every time. I keep my laptop in the kitchen and its about 15 feet away from the microwave. Web articles indicate that indeed it does generate an RF signal that interferes with the wifi. I tried changing the router to Channel 1 but that didn't help. Also my wife was disappointed that her popcorn takes a long time and comes out small.
Great in almost all respects; only difference from the Pana SD-997 is...

Summary: The difference between this unit and Panasonic's NN-SD997S is that this unit has a Stainless Steel front / door, while the 997 also has a full stainless wrap top & sides (according to Panasonic's website). This microwave has been serving us for a bit more than half a year. It replaced a very dependable Sharp model that finally bit the dust after 10+ years of service. My wife's first directive when I began researching new microwaves was "No Knobs!
Summary: Comments about Panasonic NN-SD978S Microwave Oven: It was even larger than I expected, and I could have done better with one a bit smaller. I liked the idea of the dial as opposed to a keypad, but the former turns out to be inferior to the latter. And apparently other than the minute plus feature, one can't add more time if not using the sensor cook or reheat. Those are very nice feature, BTW.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Clean, Easy To Install, Heats Evenly, Powerful, Simple Display
Summary: This model has buttons that are easy to find and operate in low-light conditions - like late night snacking. I hated our old Kenmore with those touchpad flat panals where I had to fumble all over the face with my fingers before hitting the right spots to get the thing going. Another plus is the rotary knob that makes fast work of dialing-in the right cooking time.
Summary: There's loads of interior space. Good sized turntable. This microwave is easy to use and powerful. The popcorn cycle was very good. It bakes potatoes and apples very well. The automatic sensor has been a great help in getting dinner on the table. The reheat button does the trick for those who arrive home late for dinner. It cooks frozen foods and vegtables perfectly. I'd buy it again!
