Convection Useless and Noisy

Fiendishone , johnlewis.com
  • Summary: I bought this microwave yesterday as my old Panasonic died. It has all the old functions except turbo bake but I could live with that. The microwave function works just fine but using the grill or the convection oven, forget it. I have just tried to bake a cake in it on the convection setting and I only left it in for 25 minutes of the total time of 50 minutes as I could no longer stand the smell of burning!!! The cake was black on top and raw inside.

Really pleased with this combination microwave

  • Summary: This has been a really useful addition to our new kitchen and have been very pleased with the results so far. We really like having the flexibility of using it as a Microwave or a Convection oven or even a combination of both!

Serious fault with this model

Spencer15 , johnlewis.com
  • Summary: I have had a Panasonic microwave for many years and was very happy with the performance. I gave my old microwave away to a friend after deciding to get a new microwave. I purchased this model in Nov 2013 (I chose this model since it is the same as my previous model but includes a convection oven). The first microwave delivered was returned since we noticed that the hard plastic on the inside of the door had started to melt.

Started to smoke as the door seal burnt and melted

P. Lees, Amazon
  • Summary: Our second of this model and a great microwave when it was working, but yesterday we were using it as normal when it started to smoke very badly. The metal casing had become very hot and part of the plastic seal on the inside of the door had burnt and melted onto the metal frame against which the door closes..

Panasonic Combination Microwave.

Extraordinary Housewife "Brackendog", Amazon
16 November 2014
  • Summary: This is my third microwave of this type. The last one had button but the one before was just touch keypad. The buttons are better in my opinion. For reasons I cannot say my last one dropped one of its heating elements and I was concerned that it would cause the inside of the microwave to be "live" as the element was sitting on the metal. I cannot say why that happened but it was well used.

Does what it says

Pooh53 , johnlewis.com
4 November 2014
  • Summary: This was a replacement for one we had for over 15 years, the only drawback is you only get one wire rack. With the previous one we had low and high level wire racks which was very handy.

Verges on trades descriptions as a 'convection' oven.

John Andrews, Amazon
22 October 2014
  • Summary: Sadly I cannot recommend this as it really isn't a convection oven at all. I had the previous larger model with the drop forward door and after decorating the kitchen fancied treating myself to a slimmer model, and thought it would be of the same caliber. How wrong I was. Simply, as others have said, this is a good microwave. It's quite a good grill BUT it's NOT a convection oven.

2nd Panasonic Slimline Combination Microwave

Mrs M., Amazon
2 October 2014
  • Summary: My first one which I bought end of December 2012 met all my cooking needs. I was very happy with it. I used a whole egg cooker (taken of the market several years ago) to boil a egg in it and it went bang - all my fault for using it. I was so pleased that I was able to purchase the same model again. I like the size of the microwave oven and I can cook all that I require for myself (or visitors).

Great microwave - easy to clean and powerful

Sutha , johnlewis.com
28 September 2014
  • Summary: Bought this to replace our previous Panasonic microwave, the similar to this without the combination, that finally stopped working after 7 years. All stainless model means it looks good inside and out and easy to clean. Very powerful so need to take care that you don't over cook stuff. Did develop a fault within 6 months so had to have it sent away for repair.
