Summary: We bought a home which had this beautiful looking microwave. Four months in we started having problems. Primarily the display would turn off making the microwave non-functional. After a month of this, it stopped working sporadically and went completely non-functional. Still under home warranty, we had it replaced after numerous calls and technician visits...the whole process took about to months.
Summary: This unit has worked quite well for the 12+ months I have installed it. The microwave section seems powerful and full of useful features. And the convection features are great. BUT, for one thing. The convection section on mine constantly cooks 50 degrees cooler than the thermostat is set for. I tested this with a thermometer that was dead on with the KitchenAid range I have below it.
Summary: I bought the model previous to this (KHMS2050SSS-3) in March of 2012. Looks good, big, cooked great while it worked, lots of features. Quality is TERRIBLE, believe the reviews here and everywhere else and STAY AWAY!!!! If possible I would rate this thing a zero based on price vs quality. It now needs a magnetron and inverter board after 15 months of regular use, totaling over $500 in parts and labor. Guess, what?
Looks really cool, BUT the quality is sooooooo poor...

Summary: We've had this microwave for almost 3 years now. The micro works, the same as any other microwave, but the fan attached to it has been making a rattling sound since the day one and now BOTH 'hood' lights are broken, too, and they're not easy to replace. You'd think maybe with a normal screwdriver you might be able to unscrew the cover and replace the bulbs, but nope that doesn't work, neither do any of the many hex keys we tried.
Summary: We've purchased all Kitchen aide for new house based off of some consumer review (that I'll never use again). However, not one of our KA purchases - microwave, the range, dishwasher or fridge lasted before there was an issue. Most of the cases, the problem was electrical. For example, we try to turn on the stove top burner on our range and we have to keep pushing in the knobs until one turns on.
Summary: This is my 2nd microwave of this model. After multiple repairs to the first we finally were told it could no longer be repaired. Fortunately we had bought the extended warranty after several problems with this appliance. They finally replaced it with the same model and now just a couple months past the one year warranty, my 2nd kitchen aid architect 11 microwave I am told, is fried. the thermostat is Not covered under warranty.
Summary: Have been happy with this except for high price and turntable failure. Was intermittent but now almost never spins. Am now hunting for info on this (out of warranty) to attempt repair. Have been reluctant to take it down and out of service since it otherwise works. In case it matters to others, is marked manufactured March 2007. Will report any developments here. 2012-11-22 Update: Fixed it myself with a $5 relay; an easier board replacement would have been $120.
Summary: "This microvave almost can substitute a second oven in the kitchen, it has amazing number of functions. Also has great ventilation function. Some people say it is loud, but I better get some noise over smells all over the house. It is very complex, so buy extended warranty just in case.
Summary: We purchased the microwave directly from kitchenaid. The microwave worked a total of 5 minutes. Kitchenaid sent a subcontractor technician that said he can't look at the microwave because it is a built in and it requires two technicians to take it out. Now we have to wait two weeks for the two technicians (first availability) to come and look at a new product that doesn't work. Kitchenaid used to be high quality product. Unfortunately that is no longer the case.
