Summary: I purchased all Kitchen Aid appliances for my kitchen and boy am I ever sorry. Never again will I purchase Kitchen Aid. The stove broke after 3 years (the heating element) and it cost me $600 repair. The turntable in the microwave busted twice for no reason and now the microwave has stopped working altogether and I've been told it cannot be repaired so I can toss it out.
Summary: Great while it lasted, but after 3 years the display is frequently non-responsive (have to unplug to get it back). The display also self activates...have learned to live with that for the last 12 months by turning the volume down. Can't tolerate the non-responsiveness any longer, so going into the trash after 3 years. I expect more from a $1000+ microwave. Rather than $500 plus on a repair, will try another brand.
Summary: This one replaced a troublesome previous model. Had it repaired twice in one year now the magnatron has gone bad cost $600. plus service call to fix it. Kitchen Aid uses one of the most costly magnatrons on the market. Had top of the line Kithchen Aid stove repaired twice then the main circuit board went bad cost $468. plus $100. service call.
Summary: At first we loved this microwave. It cooks very evenly and I love the custom defrost features. The hood is loud but very effective at moving air. The trouble: it is a poorly made unit. It broke once literally one week after the 1 year warranty expired. Now, a year and half later it is broken again. The silver paint on the handle has also chipped off revealing white plastic. Unimpressive.
Summary: My Kitchenaid Micro/Convection popped ONE bag of popcorn then it stopped as if itdied without a sigh. The model is apparently so new that the tech. scratched his head and said it should be replaced(the unit, not his head). I am waiting for service call number 3. I have serious money invested. I didn't even get a cookbook. What's up with that?
Summary: I only use this microwave for a year and it stopped working. Repair estimates was $568 plus service call. I will say this is that the people at whirlpool (they make kitchenaid) were great and are sending me the parts. The warranty on this unit is very poor.
Summary: I have one of these that was installed at construction, it is very attractive and functional, but the exhaust fan is very noisy you can not carry on a conversation in the kitchen with the fan operating.
Summary: This thing is the closest thing to Rosie on the Jetsons. Everyone says that it looks like a spaceship in my kitchen. It looks great and works even better. It's easy to keep clean and seems well designed and built. Being such a complex microwave, I hope it lasts a long time. We've had it for a year. No issues. I did the install myself without a helper. My back hurt a little but it was no problems.
