Summary: First let me start by saying I did not buy from amazon. This is a piece of junk. After 1.5 years of use, the handle lamination became scuffed and peeled off, and the main circuit board died. The cost to fix was $200. We really never used the convection part, so that was a huge waste of money. We bought a new microwave for $230 and spent extra for the 5 year warranty. Sad to say that it's no longer possible to trust in the 'big name' brands.
Summary: Only after having the microwave for slightly less than a year, the lettering on the keyboard wore off. Slightly after a year, the microwave totally broke. There was a power outage and subsequently the GE microwave never worked after it.
Summary: I bought this unit about 14 months ago from someplace other than Amazon. It worked fine until last week and then all of the sudden it just started cooking with out displaying anything on the little screen. I called GE and they were no help since it was past the 12 month warranty. I think I have the problem narrowed down to the main circuit board, but I am not sure if I want to put another $200 into this unit.
Summary: We've had this convection oven now for about 2 years and while we are pretty happy with the microwave portion, the convection feature is not satisfactory. Because of the smaller Volume compared to a regular range you would assume that the oven heats up faster or doesn't even need to preheat at all, as we were used to with our previous model from Kitchenaid.
Summary: Nice looking microwave but has many problems. Lasted exactly 3 years then I had to replace. Since it is an over the range model that means you may be cooking things under it on the range that create steam. When the steam rises it gets into the electronics of the keyboard and shorts it out. replaced the keyboard at 2 yrs (forgot cost but was not cheap) and finally it has finally died. Poorly designed. Do not recommend.
Summary: Among the other problems mentioned, the glass panel in the door shatters when the convection oven goes over 400 degrees. And don't even think about installing a new door yourself, as GE insists only their repair people can do the work for $150 plus the cost of the door. Zero stars would be totally appropriate.
Summary: bought nov 2011 (at local home depot) ....after a year we noticed that it would pause itself--for no reason and now has completely quit working :( most reviewers say the same thing happened to them. just crap!
Summary: The upper portion of the microwave opens as exhaust when in use. The motor to open the exhaust port pushed the entire upper assembly off (i.e. broke the entire thing apart and it fell off the microwave). Who manufactures a microwave with that much power in the motor? WTF? Time to failure: 8 months. Approx number of uses: ~170. (I am a very light microwave user) And GE's customer service is pathetic.
Summary: I spent hours and hours on the Consumer Reports website looking for a good microwave to replace my old GE Profile Model. I bought this one in July 2012 from a Warehouse Discounter Website and had problems with it from day 1. It was tempermental about whether it would start or not. Over time, it became more and more problematic and finally 15 months later, it stopped working completely.
