Summary: Microwave did not work when recieved. GE repair came and examined microwave, returned three days later with parts and repaired product. Appliance is workig well now, but experience was disappointing.
Summary: We bought this item to replace an 8-year-old GE Profile microwave. The magnetron had cracked on our old microwave. I had difficulty getting a new magnetron and high voltage capacitor. So, I thought that it would be cost effective to replace the unit instead of repairing it. Our old unit, a Ge Profile JE2160SF01, was no longer available. We wanted to match our existing GE Profile appliances. There were two GE units that came close, this one and the JES2251SF.
Summary: I bought this microwave to replace the built in GE Profile Microwave that came in my house. It died after 10 years of service, which was good, so I bought another similar model. The mounting kit was tough to get installed. I finally got the microwave in place and then find that the door sticks. I looked for a place where it was binding from the installation, but nothing was wrong there. The inevitable conclusion is that the microwave door just sticks.
Summary: Got the GE Profile M/W to match other Profile products installed in summer 2009 as part of a kitchen renovation. The M/W worked well until last week -- now four years old. From a review of other ratings looks like we got one of the better ones! This is a sorry story for GE. Not worth repairing. We paid $250 originally -- it was part of a multi appliance deal. Pretty disgusting! We have a backup M/W, an Amana, that we've had since the mid-1980s. It still works just fine.
Summary: From the start, this microwave emitted a strong chemical/electrical smell anytime it was used for more than 1 minute. It is the ONLY microwave that fits in the custom cabinet from the former owners, though, so we couldn't buy any other brand--after seeing the "peeling paint" reviews, I had specifically called the company, which claimed that the paint issue had been fixed in newer models.
