Summary: Bought under 3 years ago. First the door stopped closing fully unless you slammed it. Now all it does is work for 5 seconds and then stops working. Total JUNK! Total waste of money. Now I need to buy a new microwave...AGAIN!
Summary: This is a very handsome appliance and for the first year it operated well or as expected. Within weeks of the first year anniversary the microwave died, an operating board went out and it no longer functioned and the repair would cost almost as much as replacing the product. I contacted GE and they instructed me to have a repairman to come in and diagnose the problem, if I decided to repair or replace they would give me credit for the service call, but because the...
Summary: Used lightly a few times a day and after a year of use the light bulb is the only thing that works. So if your looking for a night light look no further, but if you looking for something to cook food than keep searching. This GE brings only a headache to life.
Summary: Started making a buzzing / arcing sound this morning. Opened door, smelled burning electronics, unplugged for 30 minutes, tried again with nothing inside, same result. Dead, going to recycling. Getting a Panasonic Commercial Grade microwave instead - all residential microwaves seem to have reliability issues.
Summary: If you are in the market for new appliances - stay FAR AWAY from GE Profile appliances!! We built 4 years ago and put in what we were told were "high-end GE Profile appliances". We've had NOTHING but problems with them for 4 years. We've had a technician out twice to fix our dishwasher, and neither problem was covered under warranty. The third time it broke, we knew how to fix it ourselves. Our GE Profile microwave broke last year.
Summary: Man I wish I'd read these reviews before buying this. I was at a local Big Box store and saw this on the shelf, decided to buy it on impulse. After all, it's a GE and that's a great brand, right? It was disappointing from the start. I don't use a microwave for much other that popcorn and heating freezer meals, and it couldn't even handle those. The popcorn setting burned the popcorn (my old, cheapo Sharp would always stop at just the right time.
Summary: This unit purchased in mid-2006 recently failed because the door latch that triggers open the microwave door will not open it when depressed. Inquiries with GE indicate that a service place like Sears would have to service it ($40 for estimate and minimum of $110 to repair). One could order parts from GE if it were a DIY option however, assuming you could figure out the parts combination, your looking at at least $70.
