Rusty metal and paint chips falling into the food - yuck!
23 July 2014
Summary: Rusty metal and paint chips are falling into the food from the top interior of this microwave. The enameled interior is rusting out after just a year and a half of relatively light use. It was low price, it was the right size, it worked ok for heating food. But who knows how long you eat these little bits of paint and metal debris before you discover it. I have no use for an appliance that can't last 18 months. Especially when it fails with a health hazard.
Summary: This is a very light, cheaply made microwave. I had a GE microwave previously that lasted for 13 years. I thought this was the same microwave, but it is not. The door doesn't shut all the way without slamming it, there is no quick minute select for 1-6 minutes like my old microwave. Plus the timer is very weird. Once set, it apparently has no way to be turned off or altered. I learned quickly not to use the timer on this microwave. I should have returned it.
Summary: I have this microwave for over a year. It works well and the cooking time can repeatedly be modified while cooking is in progress simply by pressing the 30 sec button .It has an on/off and pause button and lights up both while cooking and when the door is open. However, the paint inside has peeled off some of the bottom so that it is depressing to look at. Where the paint is gone, the bottom looks black and rusted,.

Summary: I had a GE JES1139WL for a year and a half and really liked it. Then one day it quit and I went out and got this one, the newer model. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door and found, instead of the bright white interior as before, something that looked like a nearly-dead flashlight was stuck way behind the grill, barely lighting up half of it. In short, they stiffed us with a bulb so dim you wonder why they even put a window in the door. Serious.
Summary: I'm happy with the new GE Microwave that I just purchased. It works great and is the perfect size for my kitchen. I bought the GE as a replacement for another GE that I had for over 28 years without any problems. They make a good product!
Summary: The microwave was delivered promptly as a birthday present and set up promptly. I got a text message with pictures right away. It's just the right size for a small NY apartment with a galley kitchen.
