Burning metal smell, quit defrosting or heating up food
18 September 2013
Summary: This product is junk. Barely had it maybe a yr and it started messing up about a month or 2 ago. It's crazy....wouldn't defrost and then it would defrost but would take forever to get it done. Sometimes it heats up food but usually it won't. I have been noticing a metal burning smell that recently has gotten stronger and after looking up reviews I saw that a ton of people have complained about this model actually catching fire!
Summary: Our Emerson microwave, model MW1161SB suddenly quit after 2 1/2 years. It does everything normally except it does not heat. To that point I'd been quite happy with it. On the manual warranty page they talk about "magnetron" failure. Do any know what this means? Do any have knowledge for a quick fix, a fuse or something similar?
Summary: I have had this model for 2 years and I really like it. I initially selected it because it was the size and wattage I wanted plus was stainless steel. I disagree with all the negative comments. Mine works and looks like new. I think at least one reviewer is talking about the wrong model because this one doesn't have a grill. I'm ordering another now because a power surge took mine out!!
Summary: Awful awful! I bought this after seeing it in person at Target. I was really surprised how loud it was, first off - both while heating food and also the beep. Then it literally stopped heating food after ONE WEEK of use! WHAT? Even when it worked it was pretty poor. My old microwave was 900W and actually heated food MUCH more effectively than this piece of junk did...Definitely will be returning it.
Summary: I purchased this microwave about 6 months ago. I dontuse it ll htaoften and now everytime i heat something it makes these sparks and there is nothing in it there is not supposed to be. Now i am out the 80 bucks i paid for it! What a waste of money! I am so bummed i never even got to ty th grilling option. Do no buy this Product!
Summary: I had a GE stainless steel microwave with a round knob for setting the time and an industrial looking door handle that was far better than the push botton types. It was used and abused and finally caught fire due to a misread of the timer setting after having to adjust the power level. That and not having a replacement turntable were its flaws, but I would have bought another if still available.
Summary: I just got this microwave secondhand for not a whole lot cheaper than brand new. The buttons are already bubbling up, and seem like they will be peeling in no time. The original owners said they had it 4 months, and it was manufactured only a year ago. I haven't even used it yet, but I'm disappointed in the buttons already.
Summary: This microwave quit working after about a year and a half. It no longer heats anything. It also looks terrible because the plastic where the buttons are is peeling off. I could deal with the appearance of the microwave but obviously I can't deal with it not heating food. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.
Summary: I bought this at WalMart yesterday bec. my existing Emerson microwave (MW8115SS, which I loved, but is not being sold any longer) stopped working after almost 10 years and several moves in my car. I wish Emerson still sold this model or at least had a replacement model that was very similar, as this MW1161SB is not as good. 1. When it is running, the microwave is very loud and annoying, almost sounding like there is something wrong with it, but no, it's just loud.
