Summary: We have been very pleased with this microwave for the 14 months. Looks nice, works well, feels solidly built, especially for the price. But it inexplicably stops working after 14 months. Imagine my surprise when others have reported it failing after 14 months. So I took it apart, figuring I could not make it worse. It was exactly like every one else says. a cheap fuse blew. Unfortunately to get to the fuse you have to make is past two safety screws.
Our expectations were too high when we purchase the product.

Summary: Our expectations were too high when we purchase the product. Cuisinart 1.0 Cu. Ft. in Brushed Stainless Steel Microwave Oven. The reason we are giving this Cuisinart microwave oven a 2 stars review is because our expectations were too high when we purchasing the product. During the last two years we have had 6 different 1.0 Cu. Ft. countertop microwave ovens. We bought 2 in 2011 and 4 during 2012. We bought 1 for each of our four daughters and two for our sons.
Summary: I didn't buy this item from Amazon but thought I would give a review anyway. I have only had this unit for a year and all of a sudden there is no sound, when items are through cooking. No sound when I push any buttons, just all of a sudden died. This is a nice looking unit but for what I paid for it I certainly expected it to operate correctly for more than a year. Could have paid less for something that would have operated better and longer.
Summary: Not nearly as powerful as the 18 year old Panasonic of similar size that it replaced. Preset popcorn function only good for popcorn in prepackaged mini-bags. Would only pop 2/3 of kernels in Presto Popper, even when manually setting time and power level to same as previous unit. Preset buttons white lettering on light gray background hard to read. Rounded front design kind of retro looking. Opening door will often move unit. Push button type latch would be preferred.
Pros: Easy To Clean
Cons: Clock function unreliable, Presets hard to read
Summary: We received this microwave from our wedding registry. We were thrilled when we got it and it worked fine for 16 months, then one died, I pressed 'start' and it totally shut off. I thought I blew a fuse, but nope everything else around it was still working. I tried other outlets and the thing never turned back on! Just like other people said, it just died on us. I thought cuisinart was reliable but I will NEVER buy that brand again.
Summary: After 14 months of use, our CMW-100 "died" completely without warning as the Start button was pressed. No display, no light, no fan, no nothing. There was no unusual sound or smell associated with the failure. A little web research disclosed that a blown internal fuse is the most likely cause when a microwave fails this way.
Summary: Excellent design. Stainless steel interior is a plus. However, after 2 weeks, the turntable started squeaking; no amount of cleaning helped. Also, the door edge chipped, so a corner is very sharp. Cuisinart has terrible, unfriendly customer service. To return it would cost $30 or more S&H, even if the unit is defective they don't pay any shipping. They were not helpful - never have been.
