Summary: I bought this microwave from Amazon on August 19, 2011, received it as scheduled, and it looked good. Less than 8-months later on about April 17, 2011 I noticed that about 1/3 to 1/2 of the interior coating in the recess under the wheels had come loose, leaving bare metal. This area was about 10" long and 1" wide. I phoned Amana and reported the problem. The service rep said the microwave was warrantied for 12-months, so my warranty was still good.
Summary: I hesitated to write this review, but Amana is a household name that needs to be aired. Our Amana is now a few years old, but early on the paint began to peel off on the inside bottom. At first it was just a small chip; now the whole bottom is peeling. The microwave sill functions quite well, but we are looking for a new one as the inside is becoming unsightly. Too bad - otherwise it performs so well.
Summary: This is the first time I have purchased an Amana appliance, and I am very please with this microwave. It has the power and flexible settings that I like, but there are a couple other features that I find really helpful. Some comments that I read about other microwaves while doing my research complained about the light not staying on while the door was open and not being able to see what was cooking because the view was obscured.
Summary: I use this microwave mostly for reheating food rather than cooking. I have been impressed with its interior size and how evenly it warms the food. And it is much faster than my old microwave. I am happy with this purchase!
Summary: I've used a Sharp microwave for the past 8 years, and it's just fine. Then my husband tried to cook a large pot pie on paper plates and set the paper plates on fire. Oops! Just the excuse I needed to go back to Amana. I've had 2 Amana microwaves over the past 30 years, and forgot just how great they really are.
Summary: I was hoping to receive the mircrowave that was pictured, but, alas, it is no longer available. The one I received was from Whirlpool in Malaysia and was missing the sensor reheat, the entree key, the programmable loudness levels on the end cycle, and all the submenus in the cook, kids, etc. You have to have the owner's manual to know which key is actually being used to cook the food. Nothing appears in the windows.
Summary: This is a relatively large microwave, a little larger than expected, but I liked it until the paint started peeling off the top on the inside. I don't want to keep it because of possible paint chips in the food and breakdown products released as the paint peels. I only use non-toxic cleansers and cloths or paper towels to clean it. It's a big nuisance to return because of its bulk; it's made by Maytag but they haven't replied to tweets and emails. What a shame.
Summary: Purchased this based on almost perfect review/rating. I hoped this one is made in USA, but it is not. Made in Malaysia if any one cares. Build quality is nothing out of ordinary compared to other GE/Kenmore/etc. Its powerful for sure and now I can heat my cold milk from freezer in 1.5 minutes instead of 2.2 minute in my old microwave that hit the dust after 10 years of service. BTW, this model has a black cousin which is $10 cheaper, and I went for that one.
