If you're a gamer a must buy

Tyler W., Newegg
14 April 2011
  • Summary: SteelSeries did a great job designing this mouse and I would recommend it to anyone who plays computer games.
  • Pros: This mouse is perfectly weighted compared to other mice. With some steel series mouse skates it works perfectly on any cloth or hard pad. It fits the hands really well and has great reaction speed. The personalization of the mouse is exceptional.
  • Cons: My mouse scroll seemed to skip about 10 months into owning the mouse.

Xai Mouse

Jonathan R., Newegg
14 December 2010
  • Summary: This could easily be a great mouse, but make a more refined mouse configuration, explain all these great features that went into making the mouse, maybe through a tutorial that loads once I plug in my mouse.
  • Pros: Overall I enjoy this mouse they were very fast on shipping, I got the mouse on sale for half the price during cyber Monday sales, and it goes nicely with my SteelSeries mousepad. • Smooth mouse, on the bigger size but fits my style • 5 easily reaches macro buttons • Firm buttons, avoid those tedi...
  • Cons: Just one my con, which is why I took off an egg: • The software is a bit bland/confusing compared to other mice I have used. I had too look up the terms of some of the settings, as they don't explain to you what everything does. A bit difficult to get use to the CPI (DPI in other mouses), it rang...

Best mouse I've ever used. Has a few problems though

Karl S., Newegg
10 June 2010
  • Summary: Great mouse, horrible price.
  • Pros: Huge teflon feet, glides amazingly Near perfect fit for my hands Left side buttons are in a perfect position for me. Tracks great This mouse is the best mouse I have ever used (g5, mx500, mx510, mx518, razor copperhead, MS habu, intelli mouse 3, ikari laser, ikari optical, among others).
  • Cons: Off hand side buttons I.E. the two buttons on the right of the mouse are not detected by any software (games or autohotkey). You can use SteeleSeries software to try and bind them to a keyboard button but it's not detected in ventrillo or games. I can't figure out how to use the built in LCD menu...

Very comfortable

Mike H., Newegg
14 March 2010
  • Summary: I don't think any mouse is worth $90 but that seems to be the way the world is turning for us gamers.
  • Pros: This is the most comfortable mouse I have ever held. It could be a tad smaller but I am not complaining. If the kinzu had side buttons I would probably go that route.
  • Cons: I have tried two of these. First one was not from Newegg and it seemed to have tracking problems. The one from Newegg I tried months later had a scroll wheel problem which I now found is common with the xai. SteelSeries claims it is a hardware problem. I have sent for one final replacement and ho...

All but the size

Ryan J., Newegg
13 February 2010
  • Summary: DRIVERLESS means the mouse is HID compliant, but there is a bug in the firmware it ships with, so you must upgrade the firmware. To fix the firmware: download and install the SteelSeries Xai software for windows. Plug the mouse in.
  • Pros: Great durability, great reliability, works in Linux after the firmware patch. Ambidexterous designs are incredibly hard to do right. SteelSeries has done a great job with this one (it's their first). It's expensive...ha hardly a pro...
  • Cons: The first time I tried it was in the bookstore I bought it in right after I bought it. I plugged it in....and then I plugged it right out. The thing didn't work, after all the research I had done into finding a good, durable gaming mouse that would work in Linux. I was really disappointed, so I m...

Excellent, But Not Perfect

Robert C., Newegg
8 January 2010
  • Summary: For those who don't mind stiff buttons and don't care about macros, then this is a 5 star mouse worthy of any serious gamer. One of the best gaming mice I've ever had.
  • Pros: This is a gamer's mouse and it shows. Its ability to smoothly and accurately track opponents in FPS is superb. Best I've ever owned, and I've owned a LOT of mice. Its very comfortable in the hand, using either claw grip or palm grip.
  • Cons: The main buttons are too stiff; require too much pressure to press and hold. For me this is a major disappointment and could be a deal-breaker, but that's subjective so you may not mind. The macro feature of the software is very buggy, to the point of near non-usability.

Great great great great great!!!!

Ronald M., Newegg
24 December 2009
  • Pros: This mouse is THE BEST mouse I have ever had the pleasure to experience. I came from a DeathAdder which not only did not suit me comfortably, but also fell apart on me. This mouse is (for the most part) very solid and extremely comfortable. 5001cpi (or DPI) is awesome in games. Most games I just ...
  • Cons: Marketing... there is a lot of hype to this mouse that could have been spent making it more solid.. Mine is ever so slightly coming apart at the back, but a dab of super glue should fix it. Don't buy in to the "professional gamer profiles" and other crud they lure you in with, set it up to YOUR p...

User Review

muizenshop.nl
26 April 2013
  • Excerpt: Ik heb deze muis nu ruim een maand in bezet ter vervanging van de G3 Laser van Logitec; voor de kenners onder ons, een compacte lasermuis met soort van rubbere coating bij handpalm voor betere grip.
