Great Mouse

Zacchaeus L., Newegg
1 August 2013
  • Summary: I'm a gamer, this is my first gaming mouse, and I am very very happy with it. It feels perfect in my hand, so far as weight, texture, and size. (I use palm grip). The software can be kind of troublesome, macros are terrible to work with (add 2 fake macros that aren't used, then add the rest of your...
  • Pros: Perfect weight. Simplistic design. Slightly rubberized. Comes with built in screen, all settings except button mapping accessible without software. Single DPI button to change between two different set DPIs. DPI can be set to any number from 200 (or so, I forget), up to 5000 (I don't remember exa...
  • Cons: Slight finger print/ dirt magnet, but nothing to take away from this mouse. Braided cord can be stiff, and make movement of mouse difficult if cord is in an enclosed space. If hair or other things get into the sensor hole, mouse function is utterly useless until it is removed (just a note, not a ...

Junk

Joseph N., Newegg
5 December 2012
  • Summary: IDK if Microsoft and Steele are butting heads about drivers. I do know if I was in the market for a new mouse, I would not buy this one again. It's too unpredictable for an MMO gamer. The hardware side has a lot going for it. Laser, macroing, and refined gesturing.
  • Pros: Works great out of the box, but for how long?
  • Cons: plan to reinstall your drivers every 3-6 months.

If you're a gamer a must buy

Tyler W., Newegg
14 April 2011
  • Summary: SteelSeries did a great job designing this mouse and I would recommend it to anyone who plays computer games.
  • Pros: This mouse is perfectly weighted compared to other mice. With some steel series mouse skates it works perfectly on any cloth or hard pad. It fits the hands really well and has great reaction speed. The personalization of the mouse is exceptional.
  • Cons: My mouse scroll seemed to skip about 10 months into owning the mouse.

Professional Gamer's Review

Ryan B., Newegg
12 April 2011
  • Pros: When I'm all excited, about to experience a thrill, I need to grab something sturdy, solid, and smooth to guide me through getting that most important KILL. The SteelSeries Xai mouse did just that for me on multiple occasions, helping me win numerous LAN gaming events across the world. Steelserie...
  • Cons: too much fragging ability

Xai Review

Danny M., Newegg
31 March 2011
  • Summary: Overall a great investment, and something that you wont be disappointed in when you use it. Has a small upkeep if you are using a cloth surface so make sure to clean it often either with a q-tip or a spray such as dust-off. Other than that, fantastic product and I wont ever need a different mouse.
  • Pros: The Xai is simply the best mouse I have ever come across. The universal shape is probably the simplest of features, but to a professional gamer, this made for a smooth adjustment. The technology is fantastic. From the laser being extremely precise, to the software features at the bottom of the mo...
  • Cons: My only complaint is the fact that the laser at the bottom is so sensitive (and obviously really high quality), any small pet hair or crumbs can get to the bottom and disrupt it some. My best advice for this, is to get a q-tip and lightly stick it under the mouse and move it around some. If you u...

thrilled

derek b., Newegg
15 March 2011
  • Pros: this mouse exceeded all of my expectations. i had read all about it and watched video reviews but nothing could prepare me for the actual hands-on with it. you think all of the technology involved with this mouse would slow it down but it hasn't one bit. after having this mouse for close to a yea...
  • Cons: that it didn't come out earlier on in my gaming career as i've toggled through my fair share of products before stumbling across this one.

Good Mouse, Few Cavets

Aaron L., Newegg
22 January 2011
  • Summary: The mouse wheel clicks sometimes a bit too easily when scrolling, but this isn't a huge deal. It's also easy to sometimes hit the DPI button, as it's actually not difficult to press, though this has never really bothered me.
  • Pros: Excellent tracking, light weight, ambidextrous design, easy access DPI button, quick glide. I game in FPS games a lot, and after a switch from Windows XP to Windows 7, I found my older mx518 didn't track the same way as it had under XP. I've tried a few mice over the years(G9, G9X, G500, Death Ad...
  • Cons: This mouse DOES have a tracking fault issue when run at 1000hz, in that the operational speed error threshold is MUCH lower, causing negative acceleration, but you shouldn't run a mouse at 1000hz anyway. The Software is buggy, in that it will sometimes crash while applying settings. This is fixed...

Great all around Mouse

Anonymous, Newegg
29 December 2010
  • Summary: Steelseries does need better support on some items but im happy with everythin i got from them. Merc Stealth Keyboard, Siberia v2 blue headphones.
  • Pros: I always read the 1 egg or star first in any reviews on products i own or interested in. The 1 egg reviews on this mouse are so silly. Everything electronic is man made so there will always be defects. If you get one bad item return it and et another but dont let that be the reason for bad review...
  • Cons: None.

Xai Mouse

Jonathan R., Newegg
14 December 2010
  • Summary: This could easily be a great mouse, but make a more refined mouse configuration, explain all these great features that went into making the mouse, maybe through a tutorial that loads once I plug in my mouse.
  • Pros: Overall I enjoy this mouse they were very fast on shipping, I got the mouse on sale for half the price during cyber Monday sales, and it goes nicely with my SteelSeries mousepad. • Smooth mouse, on the bigger size but fits my style • 5 easily reaches macro buttons • Firm buttons, avoid those tedi...
  • Cons: Just one my con, which is why I took off an egg: • The software is a bit bland/confusing compared to other mice I have used. I had too look up the terms of some of the settings, as they don't explain to you what everything does. A bit difficult to get use to the CPI (DPI in other mouses), it rang...
