Horrible customer support

Bryan L., Newegg
  • Summary: I purchased a SteelSeries Rival 300 gaming mouse on January 14 of this year. It was delivered on January 18 and, by March 27, it began to malfunction. The four pads at the base of the mouse are not in the least durable.
  • Pros: Works well when it works
  • Cons: Horrible customer support

extremely ergonomic

  • Summary: I absolutely love this mouse. My Logitech G502 stopped working after a month and it's drivers were disabling themselves (my Logitech G430 just did the same yesterday). Decided that was the last time I was using Logitech and bought this mouse which was on par with the Logitech and Deathadder.
  • Pros: - ergonomic - light - rgb
  • Cons: - no braided cable - firmware as of 4/4/16 won't update for anyone - mouse will randomly move in game

Nice mouse, But. .

Michael C., Newegg
24 March 2016
  • Pros: Very comfortable, adjustable dpi is a great feature and the extra buttons are nicely placed. Everything checks out well here
  • Cons: Rubber grips on the side wears away easily. I've been using this one here for a little less than a year now and I've worn a hole right down to the plastic on the thumb side of the mouse. And on the opposite side my fingers have worn grooves into the soft rubber, which while it is comfortable the ...

Good until it broke. RMA is a joke

Robert H., Newegg
14 March 2016
  • Summary: SteelSeries won me over at BlizzCon and lost me on the first purchase....
  • Pros: Got it because it fit my hand and was comfortable.
  • Cons: within first 3 months, side button broke. Within first 30 days the rubber wore off. Makes me wonder where and how these are made and where they came up with the price for such garbage..... Then there is the RMA... SteelSeries, first of all, has NO phone support whatsoever. Submitting a ticket sta...

Solid Gaming Mouse

Cecil S., Newegg
10 March 2016
  • Summary: Newegg sent me this mouse for review, and it came nicely packaged with this mouse and a quick start guide with links for the customization software and user guide. The software was easy to install, and the user guide was handy for explaining all the bells and whistles.
  • Pros: Nice heft and feel Customizable button and light options Excellent software
  • Cons: For right-handers only UPDATE: After giving this mouse such a glowing review I felt it was only right to report that the left button no longer works. I did all the usual things to try to get it to work (rebooted, tried different USB ports) and have the latest firmware installed. I'm guessing this...

Great Mouse, Software OK

Ryan B., Newegg
3 March 2016
  • Summary: Mouse is great. I like the feel of it and it functions great in game and out of game. My only hesitation with it is the iffy in software firmware updates.
  • Pros: The mouse worked out of the box with no real issues. Windows installed it without any problems and it was usable from that point. If you want the extra functionality of the software you can install that. The software gives you options to set up different profiles for the mouse depending on what e...
  • Cons: The in-software based firmware update gave me issues several times. It kept saying that the mouse was not detected and the update failed. It took 4 attempts for the firmware to finally update and I was a bit nervous doing it at that point given that a bad update might brick the mouse. That is rea...

Incredibly comfortable, plenty for almost anything

22 February 2016
  • Summary: If you're looking for a new gaming mouse and aren't looking to break the bank, this is a great choice. While I like the laser sensor of the cheaper Perixx mouse I talked about above and my old Logitech G9 for flexibility, an overwhelming majority of the time there is less difference between the...
  • Pros: First let me say I'm a big guy - 7'1" tall - so I've got really big hands. I've been using a Logitech G9 on my primary machine since 2007 and have replaced the skates on it several times. I've really grown accustomed to that mouse and every other mouse I've tried just doesn't feel right to me. As...
  • Cons: First thing is the cable. I understand this is a cheaper mouse for the gaming world, but I bought a cheap $25 Perixx mouse to travel with years ago that had a braided cable that feels much more sturdy. The sensor is very, very good but on some surfaces my laser mice work much better. Again, even ...

Great comfortable gaming mouse!

Sean B., Newegg
14 February 2016
  • Summary: Packaging and Un-boxing - Comes in a small cardboard box covered by an outer sleeve. Inside, the mouse is protected by a custom-sculpted foam. Included is the following: SteelSeries Rival 300 gaming mouse Rival 300 Quick Start Guide SteelSeries stickers Utility Install / Firmware Update - Before we...
  • Pros: Comfortable - I was worried about this mouse being big enough to fit my monstrous man hands… but there’s no problem there. It fills the entire hand comfortably… it makes regular office mice look like children's toys… won’t induce hand / finger cramps with long use. Grippy Sides - I like the textu...
  • Cons: RGB LED's don't reproduce accurate colors - Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the Rival 300 when using the SteelSeries Engine to configure the color of the LED’s in the scroll wheel and the SteelSeries logo is color misrepresentation. You can pick colors within the color spectrum, even dia...
