The Sidewinder X5 features 9 buttons. Of these nine, five can be customized through macro recording along with the included software. Users can also benefit from the quick launch button which, when pressed, automatically opens Vista’s Game Explorer or Microsoft’s other gaming features. The mouse also features a wide rubber scroll wheel as well as vertical side buttons. Apart from these, the mouse features three other buttons for dpi switching. Through these buttons, which are illuminated by red LEDs, users can easily switch between 400, 800, and 2000 dpi settings. These three buttons can also be used for macros. In addition, the mouse offers a Quick Turn function which allows gamers to check their perimeters by just clicking one button.
The Microsoft Sidewinder X5 offers image processing at 7080 frames per second, maximum acceleration at 20G, maximum speed at over 45 inches per second, and full-speed USB reporting speed at 500Hz. According to Microsoft, the mouse’s buttons are rated to last for up to 10 million clicks.
The Microsoft Sidewinder X5 is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows Vista.
