I really enjoy using this mouse.

Vladimir Maystrenko, Amazon
12 February 2009
  • Summary: I just like so much this mouse. It is not wireless, but looks very nice and smooth. It has two extra buttons on left side: one for "Back" button and one for "Magnifying" to make something look bigger, especially good for reading small size text. And it has red light under "Microsoft", I don't know what that is for, but not so bad. Just I would suggest people not to ignore this product and just try to buy, try to use, you really might like it!!

  • Summary: I upgraded from an old explorer model mouse and this mouse has the same great feel. It's optical tracking is great! The software it comes with makes it very customizable as well.

Great 5 button mouse; better than my first Intellimouse Expl

Rob S., Amazon
21 October 2004
  • Summary: I loved my 1st Intellimouse Explorer since it first came out, about 5-6 years ago? But the left click started "double clicking" last week, and I had to buy a new one. I was worried by the reviews I read here, but the 4.0 is a great mouse. I do analytical work (MS office, quicken, browser research hours a day). I use the mouse constantly and want smooth, effortless, selecting & clicking. The shape is fine-nice high arch. The buttons are fantastic.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer

Consumer Democracy
21 October 2004
  • Summary: The Intellimouse Explorer works smoothly, has no bottom roller-ball to clean, has scroll and two side buttons for going back and forward to a web page, and it looks great.
  • Pros: Click to back a page; smooth operation; no ball on bottom
  • Cons: no free customer service

Have both wired and wireless. The BEST scroll wheel.

John E. Pombrio, Amazon
18 April 2004
  • Summary: Always liked MS mice for their effortless clicking switches. I do not think I ever had one fail... The scroll wheel on this mouse is what brings it to a 5. The scroll is silky smooth and without annoying clicks. The side buttons work fine with practice. I never bother with the tilt function as it is too hard to switch and rarely a time saver. The mouse wheel switch is about the same as the old versions. The wireless is the exact same shape as the wired.

Very good overall mouse

Kob "kobcheie", Amazon
8 March 2004
  • Summary: I had the wireless version of this mouse. I changed it with this one. It's the exact same mouse but wired. The reasons I prefer this one over the wireless version are: -Wireless had reception and interference problems, this one is robust.I had to keep the receiver really close, so whats the point... -This one does not use batteries, no battery cost and it's lighter.

Really Intellimouse Explorer 4.0

Amazon Customer "pawinterks", Amazon
3 March 2004
  • Summary: Received it today. Works flawlessly. Not sure why it is identified as 3.0 (I also have the 3.0 version - non-tilt wheel). Scrolling vertically is very smooth, horizontally it might depend on the speed you set, but not bad. Comes with Intellipoint 5.0, but installation didn't remember all my 4.0 settings - not a big deal.

love this mouse

armyissuedwife, Dooyoo
3 September 2007
  • Excerpt: I like it well enough. nothing terribly fancy. not a million buttons to accidentially hit and its wireless. Very cool. The only bad thing I could really say is that it runs off of batteries and sometimes my computer stays on for two, three days at a time and it kills the battery. But I know thats my fault. It's attractive looking and it's an optical. It is very comfortable to use.

User Review

Deus_Ex_Machina, Dooyoo
2 July 2003
  • Excerpt: Normally I am one to joke about Microsoft, and their faulty operating systems etc?. I cannot in any way fault this product, it is an excellent mouse in every way. It is extremely comfortable, reliable, stylish and works brilliantly. I bought the mouse for £18 at a computer fair, as my old one (a £3 ball mouse) was annoying me so much. I wanted an optical mouse, but not a cordless, as they require batteries, and that is one more thing that I don?t want to worry about.
