Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0
10 December 2006
Summary: The IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is a fine product. The noticeable differences from its predecessors are its charcoal gray color, slight change in the mouse curvature (sleek design) and the increased responsiveness (9000 fps).
The mouse does feel a little heavy and this may be a turn off for many who seek that minimum movement ultra precision feel that is so hard to achieve from gaming devices.
Summary: While hardcore gamers will want the increased accuracy of the Logitech G5 or Razer Copperhead, the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is a cheaper alternative for those who still want an extremely accurate mouse on a budget.
Summary: Microsoft's updated IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 brings a few gamer-friendly tweaks to the design of the venerable mouse. We don't expect that it will win over the hardcore gamer, but for everyone else, the IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is a fine mouse with only a few minor issues.
Pros: Affordable, Precision Booster feature lets you customise sensitivity settings, Customisation software is easy to use, Wider base gives more wrist support
Cons: Thumb side buttons need more tactile response, You'll sacrifice a button for the Precision Booster
