Often when I buy something, I generally look for two things; the quality and the pricing. However, in a desperate need for a new mouse , I simply went to the local Fry’s Electronic Store and looked around their selection of mouses. After looking around $30 plus dollar gaming mouses, I eventually came to buy the Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000. Looking at the information provided on the box, the sensitivity and functions seemed interesting and persuading (ex. Read more

I give kudos to Microsoft for providing such great value for the improved technology and features the Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 includes. The already great optical technology has been vastly improved to be more responsive, more precise, and much smoother. In addition, not only is the magnifier feature great for accessibility reasons, but also allows easy editing of small text, data, etc. Read more

I really love this mouse. There are no extra buttons, it's just your average scroll wheel mouse. It's perfect for my desktop pc. Strangely enough my last mouse wouldn't work on my wooden desk. This mouse, no problem. Highly recommended! Read more or see product

This could be pro or con, but the wheel rolls smoothly w/o notches. I love it. You can adjust its sensitivity in the included software. Read more

This mouse is as expensive as an entry level gaming mouse for a start, which wouldn't bother me so much if it actually worked. The single most annoying thing about this mouse is the scroll wheel. Middle clicking is the single most frustrating thing, and you will always end up scrolling about half a page before you actually press it. I have had this mouse for two years and it still works fine despite being dropped and having the wires gnawed by cats. Read more

I like the smooth scrolling action of the mouse wheel but I HATE that it is so hard to click. I use the wheel click a lot - or at least I used to - I can't with this mouse. Read more

  • Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 tracking problem - skips pixels

I bought this mouse because I like Microsoft mice and plan to replace all my logitech. Unfortunately, I noticed that the Comfort 3000 mouse skips pixels on many surfaces, whereas my old Logitech MX 310 works perfectly. The Optical 3000 seriously fails even on a simple piece of paper, which of course, does not reflect anything. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is this mouse defective or is this new tracking technology apparently not so advanced as they claim? Thanks!

    Answered by bickfordc 2009-03-02:

Yes, I'm having the same problem with this mouse. On my white, melamine desktop surface it is bare usable it tracks so poorly. If I try it on a similar textured but black surface (the base of my monitor stand) it tracks perfectly.

    Answered by bickfordc 2009-03-03:

I returned the Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 and bought the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 instead. Since it is a laser mouse, not optical, it doesn't have any problems with the white surface.
