Comfortable long use mouse
M Groves, Amazon
10 March 2014
Summary: I sit at a desk for hours, and use a mouse a lot, so having one that was comfortable is important, Microsoft seem to make mice that fit my hands better than logitech, and this one fits fine and just works... I tried a colleagues mouse before buying this, and I'd advise anyone to try the feel of a mouse before buying if it's anything more than an occasional use device.
Summary: Fantastic mouse. I now have one at every PC that I use. Buttons are exactly where you want them. As a warning to those looking to purchase the (often cheaper) Comfort Mouse 6000 for business - DON'T! Buy this one instead. There is a problem with the firmware and drivers on the business model that renders the side buttons un-usable.
Good ergonomics, but loud button clicks and maddening 1/3 second delay with middle button click
Richard Lyall, Amazon

Summary: It feels great in the hand and has high resolution. But it's not perfect: 1. The main buttons click very loudly (causing a fellow train passenger to complain once) 2. Worst of all there is a 1/3 of a second delay between clicking the middle mouse button and the resulting action taking place. It turns out this is a well documented problem with the Comfort Mouse range and renders the mouse almost useless for apps requiring fast button response e.g.
Summary: First off, yes, there is a noticeable lag on the middle mouse button. About 0.1 to 0.2 seconds. It's a hardware problem with no fix. If you can't live with it, don't buy it. I had a second problem though. The Intellipoint software, downloaded from Microsoft, recognized the mouse as a "Comfort Mouse 4500" instead of a "Comfort Mouse 6000". A problem shared by others I found after a quick search on Microsoft's support site.
Summary: It took me a little while to get used to this mouse as it's quite different from previous Microsoft mice I've used. I think perhaps it's the shape, and it feels quite small in my hands. Also, it doesn't have any buttons at the front, the whole of the surface moves when clicking. After several weeks of use I now think this is the best mouse I've had and wouldn't want to go back to my old Microsoft mouse.
