The mouse has a 2.4GHz wireless USB micro-transceiver that allows it a 30 foot wireless range. It can be folded down to 60% of its fully expanded size by use of a strong metal hinge for travel purposes. The mouse automatically turns off when folded. The scroll wheel can help to navigate documents and Web pages without the use of the on-screen scroll bar. Apart from that, the Arc Mouse has a Battery Status LED indicator, which alerts the user as to when the batteries are running low. Its micro-transceiver can be folded into the bottom of the device. Also, the mouse is made for both left and right-handed users and it has customizable buttons that can be used to get quick access to files, programs and media most often used. In addition to this, it has one-touch access to Windows Flip 3D. Users can flip through open windows in a stack and quickly switch between applications. It uses Microsoft Intellipoint 6.3 software. The device, which uses an optical sensor utilises laser technology which makes it more responsive and delivers smoother tracking. In its system requirements, it states that it requires a computer or operating system with Windows XP or Windows Vista and a 100MB hard drive. For Macintosh users, the requirements are a Mac OS X v10.2-10.5 and a 30MB hard drive. For the Flip 3D feature on computers with Windows, the computer must also be equipped with Windows Aero. It comes with 2 AAA alkaline batteries. The battery life is estimated at about six months. When purchased, the Microsoft Arc Mouse comes with a synthetic suede carrying case, a USB wireless receiver dongle and a QuickStart Guide. It has a three-year limited hardware warranty.
