Logitech T650 Wireless Touchpad
8 January 2013
Conclusion: I was impressed with the performance of the T650 Wireless Touchpad. From the precision of the tracking to the range of the wireless connection and lack of interference, Logitech certainly brings their thirty years of expertise to this peripheral as well. All of the gestures I tried on both Windows 8 and 7 detected and executed without a problem. It's hard to comment about the appearance of a touchpad.
Pros: Allows you to perform many Windows shortcuts from one device, Increases ability to navigate through the Windows desktop over a regular pointing device, Good build quality, pleasing touch surface, Great tracking/sensitivity, battery life, wireless range
Cons: Clicking and dragging still a difficult operation to perform on a touchpad, Can't program gestures to perform custom functions, Won't completely replace a mouse for precise work
Excerpt: Windows 8 brought with it a quite specific problem - be it real or imagined - namely, that it was created for touch interaction. So the Logitech T650 was designed to bring touch to the millions upon millions of computers in the world that have no touch abilities.
Pros: Rechargeable, stylish, great touch surface,
Cons: You will waste time doing things you didn't want to, expensive, not fast enough at scrolling,
Excerpt: If you've upgraded to Windows 8, or bought a Windows 8 computer that doesn't have a touchscreen, you're missing out on much of the fun. The modern, tiled interface has been designed for touchscreens and, although it can still be navigated with a traditional mouse and keyboard, it's something of a chore.
Conclusion: For any Windows 8 user who wants to embrace the intuitive touch controls built in to Windows 8 but doesn't want to upgrade to a touchscreen system, the Logitech T650 gives you all of the intuitive control of a touchscreen in a comfortable, unobtrusive peripheral. Windows users who have envied the Apple Magic Trackpad now have a viable Windows alternative.
Pros: Easy to use, Comfortable device, Stylish design, Eliminates the need to upgrade PC/laptop
Cons: Minor quirks mar gesture control, A cheaper wired version would be nice
