  • Conclusion: Overall, I will stand atop a mountain and sing praises for the MX518. It has been vastly superior to other mice I've used in tracking, consistency and ergonomics. The drawbacks that I listed are really inconsequential. I highly recommend it, as long as its continues to be reliable. It may be an indulgence, but many hours of gaming will be made even more enjoyable using this gem of a mouse!

Logitech MX518

techPowerUp!

  • Summary: If you're looking for a high quality gaming mouse, and are not willing to spend 80+ bucks on a Razor, you should definitely give the Logitech MX518 mouse a look. 1600 DPI is plenty for most people, including most high sensitivity gamers in my opinion, and with two side buttons it is hard to complain about this mouse. Gaming and general use with this mouse is a pleasure - It's very comfortable, and doesn't miss a beat. I'm certainly pleased with it.
  • Pros: Amazing performance, Lots of buttons, Good weight and feel, Nice look
  • Cons: Look might not appeal to some, Application switch button hard to use

Logitech MX518 Gaming-Grade Optical Mouse

PC Magazine
13 September 2006
  • Excerpt: Hard-core gamers, the Logitech MX518 was designed with you in mind. This 1,600-dpi optical mouse has two unique buttons, one above and one below the scroll wheel, that let you change the mouse's sensitivity on the fly, even while you're playing. If you prefer games that require fine mouse control in some scenes and looser, quicker movements in others, you'll appreciate this capability: The cursor can speed across the screen or barely move at all.

  • Conclusion: I really like the mouse. In fact, I do think I like it better than Razer Diamondback. Even though it doesn't feel as accurate, it's more than adequate for gaming. The comfort level for me personally is much improved for the Diamondback, but this is a righty only mouse. The MX518 has a much better implementation of on the fly resolution adjustment. Overall it's a winner, but it's still not the perfect mouse.

  • Excerpt: Although at a MSRP of US$49.99 you might deem this mouse to be a little on the pricey side, but as with any higher end computer product, if you want to best, be prepared to pay for it. This mouse packs the precision, the features, the comfort and the quality a gamer will require to allow them to accurately game for years without a single issue.

Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse

Maximum CPU
21 August 2008
  • Conclusion: The Logitech MX518 is one of the best mice I have ever used. The high resolution and fast response time makes it ideal for almost any gamer. The software is useless for the most part but at least installing the software is optional and won’t affect the performance of the mouse if it is not installed. The Logitech MX518 truly deserves a 5/5.
  • Pros: 1600dpi resolution, Sensitivity controls on mouse, No delay when clicking
  • Cons: Software is a waste of system resources
