Summary: The MX510 is the best wired mouse I have ever used, but unfortunately it has been discontinued. It has 8 programmable buttons and is Windows and Mac OS X compatible right out of the box. The MX518 is mechanically identical, however you have to purchase a 3rd party program to use it on a Mac. I program one button to hide an app (Command H), another to quit (Comm. Q), but my favorite is using the cruise forward as a screen capture button.
Summary: I've had this mouse since 2005 and it is still going strong. I use it everyday and work and the short cuts and scrolling features are very handy. I've had coworkers who have replaced their mice several times the last few years and my mouse still works in perfect condition. It is well made and comfortable to use. I highly recommend.
Summary: Bought this mouse back in 2004 for $29.98 and still working to this day. Never had any issues and used it for mainly gaming and regular desktop use. All buttons worked and are able to map in games without any issues. I find the wheel scroll useful when browsing webpages and the forward and back buttons on the left side of the mouse works great especially when you quickly want to go back and forth pages with a click of a button!
Summary: Over the years I've bought and thoroughly enjoyed Logitech's MX500, MX510 (in both red and blue), MX518, MX700, G5 (gen 1 and 2), and G7. All the same shape. I LOVE this shape. The 510 is a basic mouse, without any fancy features like a woven cord or customizable weight cartridges, but it's still a good mouse. If you like the shape of any of the models I listed above, and you get it for cheap, you'll be happy with this mouse.
Very good mouse, but 3/8 buttons are placed out of reach

Summary: The mouse is very good overall. It feels comfortable, though seems designed more for a three-finger approach, which may take a little adjusting to. The responsiveness is good, and the two thumb buttons are indispensable for general computer use (forward / back is so convenient) and for gaming (put 2 extra commands within each reach of your thumb). I would recommend it as a replacement mouse for gamers and non-gamers alike. Support from Logitech is excellent.
Summary: Great mouse for gaming. Why spend a fortune on a Razer when you can get just as good of performance out of a mouse like this. I've been using this mouse for many years now and it still feels and reacts like the day I purchased it. When it finally does die. I will be replacing it with the exact same model if they are still making them!
Summary: The Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Red) is exceptionally durable, ergonomic, and aesthetically pleasing: Features -------- - Precise Despite possessing only a 800 DPI sensor, the tracking feels very precise and responsive and the movement of the pointer is very fluid at the medium pointer speed. At higher pointer speeds, however, the mouse begins to lose its precision and the movement of the pointer becomes a little choppy.
