reliable mouse

Anna R., Newegg
15 June 2010
  • Pros: My LX8 has worked reliably and steadily for almost 3 years. It's smooth, the software and drivers are fantastic and very customizable, movement is accurate and responsive, and the feel is very comfortable for both hands.
  • Cons: After 3 years, the left mouse button doesn't click so well anymore. Sometimes when I middle click, it activates the mouse wheel tilt button while middle clicking.

Great casual-use mouse

Anonymous, Newegg
11 February 2010
  • Summary: We had to RMA several old logitech LX5 OEM models and they sent us these! Couldn't be happier. People were glad to get not only a new mouse, but a very nice one at that. I would agree that these are worth the price for how nice they are and we will probably be purchasing more of these in the near...
  • Pros: Very comfortable, and ambidextrous so it's friendly for all of our users. Logitech always provides good drivers and software for their products (if you choose to use them over the generic ones, of course). Plain and simple, just a great mouse for everyday use. The mouse size is a nice medium- thi...
  • Cons: The price may seem a little steep (as of Feb. 2010) and one thing Logitech does is hold their product prices firm for as long as they can. You probably won't see this price change much over the next year or two. However, as stated below, I feel the price is about on par with the quality of this m...

Comfortable, excellent customization, great battery life

Christopher P., Newegg
3 February 2010
  • Summary: I customized the right and left scroll buttons to switch and close tabs in my browsers. I rarely have to scroll right or left, so I recommend you use the software to customize those extra buttons to something of your liking.
  • Pros: I'm very pleased with this mouse. It's comfortable, the button customization options are excellent, and the battery life is outstanding as long as you turn it off when you're not using it (According to the software, I've still got it on "Good" battery life after six months of use). The dock for t...
  • Cons: None, really. Others have complained about the oversensitivity of the back/forward browser buttons on the side of the mouse, but I did not have this problem, likely because I have small hands.

User Review

Kevin K., Newegg
27 January 2010
  • Summary: I've had this mouse at where I work for over 4 months and it is running great. Haven't changed the batteries once on it. I haven't used it for games, however. For people complaining about battery life, you need to remember to turn off the mouse when you aren't using it for extended periods of time.
  • Pros: Great size, very responsive, GREAT battery life. The wheel doesn't have hyperscrolling, yay! Feels great in the hand.
  • Cons: Occasionally I knock the side buttons and it will make me go back a page in a browser, but I got beef hands.

This is par for the course

  • Summary: I don't like the logitech auto-update driver function so I shut it off.
  • Pros: Fits my hand nice. Very ergonomic. Has all the functions I need. It has some heft to it which I like. It has a professional feel to it. Those laptop mice are fun to use but they are puny and feel more like a small dinner roll than a mouse. The laser pointing mechanism is the best that there is. Y...
  • Cons: I had to disable the right scroll button because when i would grip the mouse the web pages would change to the next page which is a pain in the neck when I'm reading the new york times. But this is probably a unique situation for me based on the size of hand and how i grip the mouse etc. Might no...

  • Summary: I like it.
  • Pros: Very accurate for general computing/gaming. Im not sure about the dpi but its fairly good. I used to game with optical mice so this is something new. It looks awesome, one of the sleeker looking mice out there. Buttons all have a very quality satisfying feel. Battery life on alkalines is about 6-...

Finally - A Cat-hair-proof mouse!

V S., Newegg
3 August 2009
  • Summary: I 1st had several standard mice over the yrs & then tried an optical mouse. W/both types, had to constantly clean out the cathair from my long hair cat (whose hair is fine like down & invades absolutely everything).
  • Pros: Love the various buttons & their capabilities; mouse can communicate w/receiver even through desk surface & the 8" paper, etc on top of it; mouse is impervious to cathair - have only pulled hair out of the 1mm sensor hole once and that was because I looked at it out of curiosity; incredible relia...
  • Cons: Honesty trying to think of some - can't

Great Mouse

Kevin S., Newegg
26 June 2009
  • Summary: My previous Logitech mice, models MX700 and MX900, were a pain in the neck. Too much hardware, remembering to place them in the charger, etc. That's why I bought the LX8 -- it's been over a year and I've only had to change the batteries twice.
  • Pros: Feels great even to a left-hander, tracks well, RF USB interface works great, and it runs on AA batteries. No need to sit the mouse or its battery pack in a charger -- just change batteries every six months or so. Less hardware = better.
  • Cons: The software really doesn't track the battery condition -- it says "good" right up until the batteries drops dead. And the side buttons can be annoying, but you can disable them with the included software, as I immediately did.
