Summary: As the old adage goes, don’t fix something that isn’t broken . True enough, apart from the minor tweaks, Logitech has applied the same formula on the G500s which made its predecessor one of the top choices of gamers on a budget.
Conclusion: If you don’t mind how it looks and can live without fancy features like lights and oodles of extra buttons, you'll find this mouse to be a solid-performing gaming and productivity peripheral with a well-established design. If you’re in the market for a general-purpose gaming rodent, and $60 is within your budget, this is one of the best ones we’ve used in recent years.
Pros: Solid performance, Extra buttons, while small, are easy to feel out, Configurable weight and balance system, Improved sensor
Cons: Look is a bit drab and dated for a gaming peripheral
Excerpt: If you often find yourself playing the latest and greatest games on your PC instead of a console, you’ve probably also found yourself wondering whether or not you should buy a dedicated gaming mouse. Such was my situation just a couple months ago. Luckily, the opportunity to review the Logitech G500s presented itself.
Conclusion: Engineered for advanced precision and control. That was the slogan used on the retail box of Logitech's MX500 high performance optical mouse way back in the day (Funny how I still remember it so clearly so many years later, haha). The Logitech MX500 was undoubtedly a success when it was released in 2003, and it was held in very high regard by enthusiasts and gamers alike.
Summary: The G500 has very similar features to its big brother, the G9x, despite the £20 difference in price. Where they differ is in ergonomics and flexibility. For gamers who utilise a palm-grip when gaming the G500 is perfect. For claw and finger-grip users though the G9x’s interchangeable grips will provide a better-suited experience.
Excerpt: Although Logitech’s G500 Gaming Mouse is the cheaper cousin to the company’s flagship gaming mouse, the G9x we reviewed in March, we much prefer this simpler rodent. It delivers nearly all the same features, and it’s a better fit for our hands.
