Excerpt: Aivia (Advanced, Intuitive, and Versatile Interface Archetype) is a new product series from Gigabyte that is completely dedicated to launching the latest mouse and keyboard innovations. They are determined to make amazing products with unprecedented comfort, design and function. We already saw that the K8100 Gaming Keyboard was a great first step into the gaming keyboard category. Today, I will be testing and examining the Aivia M8600 Wireless Macro Gaming Mouse.
Summary: The Aivia M8600 Wireless Macro Gaming Mouse is absolutely riddled with features. During testing I found the responsiveness the best I have ever experienced. This is the first mouse I had to dial down from max resolution for gaming. The software is clean and easy to use making regular tasks smooth and macro programming as simple as I have seen.
The unusual shape does take some additional time to get used to.
Pros: High Res Laser Tracking, Recordable Macros, Wired and Wireless Mode, Quick Change Battery, Mouse Has Some Weight, Creative Packaging
Cons: Angular shape takes some getting used to, Cannot charge extra battery and mouse at the same time
Excerpt: First impressions last. That's the first thing you'll think of when looking at the GIGABYTE Aivia M8600 Wireless Macro Gaming Mouse. It's quite striking to look at; to hold on the other hand is a different argument. I use as my everyday mouse a Razer Mamba and it's quite curved; the GIGABYTE Aivia M8600 mouse has a high ridge where your palm rests which can be annoying - you may ask why I'm starting off with a negative?
Excerpt: The mouse we have on hand today is a bit of a rarity in gaming circles, it's wireless. Wireless tends to be frowned upon when it comes to gaming devices as the combination of interference, lag and the ever-important battery life mean that the vast majority of rodents that are designed for the gaming fraternity come wired.
Conclusion: The all new Aivia M8600 denotes a radical departure from previous design philosophies for Gigabyte and rightly deserves to be part of the Aivia brand. Much like the Aivia K8100 keyboard, this mouse is designed for gaming and gaming only. Compare and contrast this single mindedness with previous models which were better rounded and “jack of all trades” in their approach and things look both good and bad for this mouse.
