Summary: I thought this is like usb memory, when you connect two computers with this, each of computer recognize the other as an external hard drive. But no way!!! you have to set tons of things after connect your computers and when they work, you cannot use your computer!! this is terrible. I already returned this and am looking for better one.
Summary: I tried to use this cable to transfer my data from a Windows XP computer to a Windows 7 computer. Unfortunately, this product doesn't work. The instructions that came with it were contradictory. They also didn't completely agree with the instructions on the Microsoft web support site.
Summary: First of all it said I needed to transfer 106GB, not kb or mb but gb!!!! wrong, so I just just my person data and not shared data but it transfered shared data as well. Well you know all the junk that comes on the new computers you can't wait to get off your computer, that is what it copied from a gateway to a hp so it is different junk. So now I have twice as much junk. Did it copy my passwords that is the only reason I got the cable - NO!!!
Summary: The CD didn't work. Went to the web site. Hard to find driver. Couldn't download. Called CS. Outsourced and hard to understand. No help. Finally got the web site download and got it working. 3hrs of work. Wasn't worth it. Not recommended.
Summary: Bought in April '11. Very simple of transfer from Vista desktop to a Windows 7 laptop. Would not transfer any of my photos or videos....kept saying there is not enough disk space even though I was never trying to transfer more than 20 GB at any one time (after after the first couple of errors, definitely tried it in smaller batches)....help\info on this strange error was non existent on the Belkin website....
Summary: I bought this cable thinking I could use it to backup from my main XP machine to my new Win7 computer (to be used primarily as storage backup). It is very difficult if not impossible to network connect an XP computer to a Win7 computer. To do it requires more patience than any human I know has. So I thought that USB transfer should solve my problem, it did not.
Summary: I run 64-bit Windows 7 on my HP laptop. This adapter has caused my massive problems! Even after doing a restore to a date prior to installing the drivers, I am getting Blue Screen crashes when I shut down. My laptop has been very stable for a long time and I have not installed any other hardware. It must be the Belkin driver and I am still working on finding a solution.
