Arctic M551 Wired Laser Gaming Mouse

20 November 2011
  • Conclusion: The Arctic M551 is a decent mouse for the price with some nice features that gamers should appreciate. There’s no doubt the Arctic M551 is an inexpensive mouse, but the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ really applies here. Yes it’s aimed at gamers, but it doesn’t have any of the features that most gamers would look for in a gaming mouse. The M551 doesn’t have any kind of programmability, a braided cord, adjustable weighting or gold plated contacts.

  • Summary: When using a new mouse, I think there is always an adjustment period to get used to the smoothness and to the new feel; and with the Arctic M551 gaming mouse there is no exception. It glided over my desk like it was on ice, and I really enjoyed the feeling and shape of the mouse as it fit in my hand. The buttons were all very easily accessible, and at no time did I feel like they were out of place.
  • Pros: » Comfortable, » Ergonomic design, » Able to change DPI on the fly, » DPI setting viewable without having to flip over the mouse, » Fairly priced
  • Cons: » High DPI setting can be difficult to work with, » No button customization, » Can not find one for sale in the USA

Arctic Cooling Arctic M551 Laser Gaming Mouse Review

29 September 2010
  • Summary: Conclusion The Arctic Cooling Arctic M551 is a solid, comfortable, basic mouse. What makes it stand out from the crowd of mice looking for your $25 is the selectable DPI and the ergonomic design. It is comfortable and accurate which is what most people want in a mouse. If you are looking for a mouse with more buttons than your average keyboard, this is not the one for you.

Arctic M551 Gaming Mouse

9 August 2010
  • Summary: After plugging the M551 into the USB port I started moving the cursor around and was surprised at how fast and smooth the feel is. The Arctic M551 is a gaming mouse so let's test out some games! Okay, I tried playing some Medal Of Honor Allied Assault. I had to turn my sensitivity down halfway in the game console just to use the lowest 800 DPI setting. Just for giggles, I turned the DPI up to the max 2400 and it was crazy fast.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, Smooth and comfortable, 6 Foot USB cable, One touch DPI control
  • Cons: Distracting LED's

  • Summary: The M551 misfires on the basics of the common mouse. Scroll wheel problems are just the tip of the iceberg. Look elsewhere for a good mouse.
