Superior 3D navigation peripheral

Pros: Great for anyone who works with computer aided 3D design with programs such as Autodesk Inventor. I do mechanical design work in inventor and the 3Dconnnexion mouse was the type of thing I didn't know I needed until I used it. If you can't afford this 3D mouse then don't try it, because you will be hooked.
Cons: None I can think of. If you are looking for a 3D navigation tool specifically for computer aided design, this is the answer.
Summary: While the profile is smaller than it's desktop cousins, it is still a very tall profile for most mobile accessories. I would trade a lower profile for a larger footprint on this any day. I would also carefully consider the wireless desktop version as well. It is physically larger, but if you're someone who dislikes cables everywhere, the size difference will be negligible in contrast.
Pros: I loved the desktop version so much, I decided to purchase one for my mobile workstation. I simply cannont do my CAD/CAM work without one now! The travel pouch is great addition as well, and a thoughtful touch.
Cons: Occasionally wanders while using it in MasterCAM X7, have not tried it yet in the new X8. Locks the program out while it is doing this (I believe this to be on MC's side, though)
Excerpt: Love it. Fast shipping from B&H. 3D Mouse was super easy to setup right out of the box for the application I was using. Feels nice. very heavey in place on desktop or comfortable in palm of one hand.
Pros: Accurate Tracking, Comfortable Design, Easy setup, Fast Response, Glides Smoothly, Great Features, Smooth, Works On Any Surface
Excerpt: Brilliant piece of equipment for 3D modeling and architectural programs. Comfortable, very easy to use and speeds up workflow by about 100%. I use it for stuff like 3DS Max, Revit, CAD. Can't work without it. Well built, well worth the price.
I'm really disappointed because it's very high quality and I thought it ...

Summary: I read reviews and postings from the 3Dconnexion forum which indicated that this mouse could be used as a "normal" windows mouse. After installing the driver and getting nowhere, I called tech support where I was quickly informed that there was no driver to allow that. I'm really disappointed because it's very high quality and I thought it would be the perfect mouse. This mouse pops up under searches for ergonomic or "mouse alternatives".
Summary: I bought this to use with a 3D modeling package and an imaged editing program. I also wanted to use it for second life. It works very well, though it does require some practice. It should be noted that it connects to the first program activated accepting the 3D mouse and will ignore all of the others. It does not follow the focus of the cursor. It does work flawlessly with a wacom usb tablet and usb mouse.
Pros: Nothing comes close to increasing your CAD productivity like a 3D mouse. 3Dconnexion pretty much owns the market. This little guy is easy to transport, It's also got enough weight to stay seated on your desk.
Cons: Needed to update with firmware that wasn't available on their site. I had to contact tech support to get it. Prior to the update, I could not leave it plugged into my PC when booting up or it would seriously hangup the PC for a while. I'd be forced to unplug it prior to boot, and then plug it back in once windows loaded. Driver loads oddly with Autodesk Inventor occasionally requiring me to restart the app again.
