Works great with mavericks. Needed 2D navigation fix however

Summary: I've been using a space navigator for many years now and love it. I use it with Archicad on my Mac Pro and Macbook Pro. There is definitely a tangible increase in efficiency, and 3D navigation becomes intuitive and subconscious, rather than awkward & slow. I was using it with Snow Leopard, for which the drivers offered very basic functionality. I've updated to Mavericks (skipping the last 2 OS), and the Apple implementation seems to be more robust.
Summary: I'm going to knock this based on my experiences using in Revit and Sketchup. I thought this might be helpful with modeling. For me, it turned out to be a novelty best used for smooth flybys/walk thrus or twirling schematic designs around in perspective for clients to view on screen. Keyboard shortcuts are necessary of course, and I found it inconvenient having to move the hand back and forth to the joystick rather than just holding down the shift button while moving my...
Summary: This basic model works well, getting used to it is not easy, it will take a couple of days of fiddling with it. Works in Freecad older versions of sketchup and in solidworks, Google earth and in a bunch of other applications with their universal drivers. I had a bit of a misconception though, this should not replace your mouse in these applications but supplement your control of the environment along with a standard mouse, in fact calling this a mouse would not be...
Excerpt: I've used a number of 3Dconnexion devices over the past 10 years and they always worked excellent for me. I wouldn't want to use a CAD/CAM or 3D application without one. This "Notebook" SpaceNavigator is essentially the same product as the standard SpaceNavigator, with a smaller & lighter metal base. The main control "puck" is exactly the same as the one on my SpaceMouse Pro (at work) and I can switch between them without even thinking about it.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Durable, Fast Response, Quality, Smooth Movement
Summary: if you are a modeling fool you will greatly appreciate the added flexibility offered in this tough little guy. Nice and heavy to stay put on the desk, smooth movement in every axis. This is a good quality durable product that seems like it will give years of service while sitting for 10 hours a day staring at a computer screen creating 3d models of hardware which will in turn be used to make somebody else rich beyond your wildest dreams.
Excerpt: I'm impressed with the device. It is well made, very heavy, so it stays in place on your desktop. If you haven't used a 3d mouse before, it takes a short amount of time to get use to it. After getting acclimated, you will love it. It will give you a lot more control with your sketch up, if you render. Get one.
