  • Excerpt: The product works, certainly! However the manufacturer in my opinion went out of its way to make it as hard as possible to interface it with various application. Sure, there is an SDK to hook it up, vendors who want it to work can make it so, probably for a price.
  • Pros: Accurate Tracking, Comfortable Design, Fast Response
  • Cons: Intentionally Crippled

Great concept

Adam H., Newegg
3 February 2015
  • Summary: Bought this specifically to play space flight sims, such as Elite: Dangerous. Works great, spring tension at 100% any direction is fairly stiff and strains the wrist over long periods of time. If you want a joystick setup, buy a joystick.
  • Pros: Works exactly as expected. Intuitive controls and simplified settings make this very usable for a wide range of programs. Seems to work best for 3d rendering software like sketchup or blender. With the right set of 3rd party drivers this can be used as a 6 DOF joystick for videogames.
  • Cons: Spring on up direction seems stiffer than the other directions, pulling to 100% of upward movement is almost enough to lifts the base into the air, second hand required to hold base in place during these movements.

Superior 3D navigation peripheral

Joseph N., Newegg
23 November 2014
  • Pros: Great for anyone who works with computer aided 3D design with programs such as Autodesk Inventor. I do mechanical design work in inventor and the 3Dconnnexion mouse was the type of thing I didn't know I needed until I used it. If you can't afford this 3D mouse then don't try it, because you will ...
  • Cons: None I can think of. If you are looking for a 3D navigation tool specifically for computer aided design, this is the answer.

User Review

Nathan C., Newegg
4 September 2014
  • Summary: While the profile is smaller than it's desktop cousins, it is still a very tall profile for most mobile accessories. I would trade a lower profile for a larger footprint on this any day. I would also carefully consider the wireless desktop version as well.
  • Pros: I loved the desktop version so much, I decided to purchase one for my mobile workstation. I simply cannont do my CAD/CAM work without one now! The travel pouch is great addition as well, and a thoughtful touch.
  • Cons: Occasionally wanders while using it in MasterCAM X7, have not tried it yet in the new X8. Locks the program out while it is doing this (I believe this to be on MC's side, though)

  • Excerpt: Brilliant piece of equipment for 3D modeling and architectural programs. Comfortable, very easy to use and speeds up workflow by about 100%. I use it for stuff like 3DS Max, Revit, CAD. Can't work without it. Well built, well worth the price.

I'm really disappointed because it's very high quality and I thought it ...

  • Summary: I read reviews and postings from the 3Dconnexion forum which indicated that this mouse could be used as a "normal" windows mouse. After installing the driver and getting nowhere, I called tech support where I was quickly informed that there was no driver to allow that.
