Transcend SDXC 64GB Class 10 Review (16)
30 July 2011
Conclusion: One of the main things we learned with this review is that the Class rating on an SD card is practically useless at telling how the card will perform in real-life, much like the read/write speeds stated on Solid State Disk drives. In fact, the comparison Class 4 card we included in this review was quicker in every test throughout this review apart from where we tested sequential write performance using a large video file.
Pros: Fastest sequential write speed we have seen with an SD card., Read performance also very fast, faster than any of our SD card readers are able to handle., Very large capacity for an SD card, making even a 50GB dual-layer Blu-ray disc look ridiculously large in comparison!, Less than half the price of most other Class 10 rated 64GB SDXC cards.
Cons: Write performance sharply falls off with free space fragmentation., Unable to keep up with a 34Mb (4.2MB/s) real-time recording with significant free space fragmentation., Poor write performance with individual files, especially with files smaller than 10MB., Card only meets its Class 10 rating with sequential writing and very light to no free space fragmentation.
