Measuring in at only 0.59 × 0.43 × 0.04 inches, microSD memory cards are roughly one-fourth the size of a full-size SD card. This mobile storage solution was designed especially for use with mobile phones and, with its high transfer speeds, is ideal for storing multi-media files such as digital photos, music and videos. The microSD form factor has also been adopted in other portable gadgets like handheld GPS systems, portable media players, expandable USB flash memory drives, digital audio players, and handheld gaming consoles.
SanDisk microSD memory cards are available in two capacities, 1 gigabyte and 2 gigabytes. With a 1 gigabyte microSD card, the user can store up to 600 photos, 125 songs or up to 1.5 hours of video. A 2 gigabyte memory card, meanwhile, can fit 1200 photos, 250 songs or as much as 3.5 hours of video.
In addition to microSD devices, these memory cards can also be used with devices with a TransFlash or full-size SD card slot. Each purchase includes a microSD to SD adaptor.
