I guess I should have known

Steve C. Michalski "Stevix©", Amazon
19 December 2012
  • Summary: Paying only $6.99 for a 512mb stick of ram would be too good of deal; well it was, tried everything reseating, running on it's own and so on with the same results PC would not boot because of hardware failure - ram.

1 out of 4 DEAD

Taylor S., Newegg
7 September 2011
  • Pros: NOTHING
  • Cons: 1 stick out of the 4 I ordered was DOA. It would blue screen at random times. At first I thought it was the memory controller but nope tried it in a different system and same problem. And in the time it took me to troubleshoot I have gone over the return time.

Don't let them fool you

Bogey62 "Bill", Amazon
28 March 2011
  • Summary: I love how I write a review of this seller and they respond, but I can't follow-up. They make it out as if I'm the fool for not reading every bit of small print they use. Read my earlier 1 out of 5 review of this seller. They advertise Crucial memory, but ship you Samsung memory.

Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop

James S., Newegg
18 November 2010
  • Summary: When you order memory you have to do your research. Don't just order and hope for the best.
  • Pros: Fast delivery
  • Cons: Incompatible with my laptop. I did not look closely when i ordered it but in the model number it has 6464(64MX64M) which is high density. My laptop does not take high density. Not anybody's fault but my own.

Budget

Benjamin G., Newegg
6 November 2010
  • Summary: I understand this is a budget product but the RAM doesnt even come close to being the same product. Not the Egg's fault that Crucial is rebadging cheap stuff and selling it as theirs.
  • Pros: Cheap.
  • Cons: Ordered 2, Came with the same box, with two completely different PCBs and chips. Would not boot my Atom system with both installed, turned out one does not play nice with the other.

High Density!

Bruce M., Newegg
28 February 2010
  • Summary: Need to check high/low density for DDR laptops...
  • Pros: ...
  • Cons: Did not work on a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. Turns out that this has 8 chips on it, not 4, so must be high density. The specifications did not say if high or low density... will have to do a RMA.

Not Compatible with Dell Inspiron 1100

KEVIN D., Newegg
7 January 2010
  • Summary: I returned this with no problem to newegg.com.
  • Pros: N/A
  • Cons: This memory is not compatible with a Dell Inspiron 1100 Series Laptop. Crucial Tech Support advised it's because the 1100 series does not accept high density memory. Apparantly this rare (Go Dell!!!) so its not something listed in the tech specs for the product. It had the same specs as the "guar...

  • Summary: I was not able to return the dimms due to warranty restrictions and am now stuck with $52 of worthless memory. Guess I'll try and cut my losses on another web site.
  • Pros: product arrived on time and was in good condition
  • Cons: the memory was specified to work with a presario 2100 but prevented the laptop from booting when both memory dimms were inserted. no combintation worked.

NOT COMPATIBLE

Jesus C., Newegg
17 May 2009
  • Pros: Absolutely NONE, used Crucial's website memory finder & double checked by calling Crucial TECH SUPPORT before ordering and they GUARANTEED it would be comptaible for my HP Pavilion ze5738rs (ze5700 series) & is not. BEWARE OF CRUCIAL, better off with Kingston or Corsair.
  • Cons: Everything. First & last time I buy a Crucial product.
