Summary: I purchased this device from another online shopping service that had it on sale for about $55. Because I paid only $55 for it, I've given it 2 stars. If I paid what Amazon and others are charging, I would have given it 1 star. The VL-976 has several applications, such as HD video, audio player, e-book reader, calendar, stopwatch, English-Chinese dictionary, and a few others. Having all of these applications might be nice if the touch screen was more responsive.
Summary: Absolute garbage. Bought two for Xmas, after ~ 1 week, they stopped working. Either they are no longer recognized by your OS, or the screen is blank, rendering the unit useless. I returned both of them and, lo-and-behold: THE REPLACEMENTS STOPPED WORKING. Support is a joke You send an email and never get a response! Three emails later, I have yet to hear back from these people. Never again!
Summary: You pay for what you get, but I did not even get my money's worth with this music player. Navigating the menus is very difficult; which is made worse by the fact that it takes the player forever to respond when you press a button (up to 10 seconds). Did I mention that navigating the menus suck. You can't play music and navigate your music folder at the same time. You can only shuffle songs that are within a folder, and a folder can only hold up to 100 songs.
Summary: Purchased for three year old Granddaughter who loves music. It is simple enough for her to use (once music is downloaded). She can listen to all her favorites, without ear phones, which was what I was looking for. It is great for travel.
Summary: Overall a nice MP3 player with regard to sound & size. Only negative, which is a big negative since I bought this player for my young daughter is that the menu system isn't like other MP3 players for selecting music. It lacks music selection by genre, artist, album. In fact the menu selection for music in folders is more like accessing your hard drive the old DOS way. In order to step back up the tree of menus you have to enter on the "\" in the menu tree.
Summary: I got this for my 11 year-old grandson and he opened it up and immediately started using it. Had no trouble with downloading songs but not quite sure about the videos. Still working on that. Wish it had more instructions.
