The Sony Walkman NWZ-B142F (B series) is a portable music player that supports high speed data transfer via a USB connection, and supports a 2GB memory storage size, 3-line display display and a 5 band equalizer. The Walkman® also supports Music Searching Methods via folder, going through all songs, by artist, album, playlists, genre and release year; Music Play Mode (Normal / Repeat/ Repeat 1Song / Repeat Shuffle), supports MP3 record and play (with compatible mini/micro systems); drag and drop function, bass boost and Voice Recording (Mono). It support playback for both MP3 and WMA (Non-DRM). The Sony Walkman NWZ-B142F also features a back-lit display, Power Illuminator (via four red LED); AVLS, Repeat, Shuffle and Hold functions; an FM tuner, and comes with MDR-E804YLP headphones. The Sony Walkman NWZ-B142F also comes with a Quick Start guide, rechargeable battery that provides up to 18 hours of playback time (with fully charged for 1 hour and 10 minutes) and measures 86 x 23.6 x 14.5 mm and weighs 26 g.

The Sony Walkman® NWZ-B142F features a "ZAPPIN™" function to find the songs wanted without having to view a screen. The device also features 2GB built-in memory for storage of MP3 and WMA files (the NWZ-B142F supports multi audio codec for both types of file format); direct USB connection (Hi-speed USB (USB 2.0 compliant) that allows users to transfer files from a personal computer to the device with drag and drop function, and is powered by a battery that provides up to 18 hours of battery life (with 3 minutes quick charge function that provides 90 minutes of playback). The Sony Walkman® NWZ-B142F also features a 3-Line LCD display, BASS sound enabled by pushing "BASS" button, "Power illuminator" flashing Red LEDs with music, FM Tuner with 30 presets function and voice recording and FM program recording function. It also incorporates an equalizer feature for adjustment of sound quality. The Sony Walkman NWZ-B142F measures 86.0 x 23.6 x 14.5 mm and weighs approximately 26 g (including rechargeable battery).
